Hotel Astoria Superior

We really liked the location of the Astoria. In one direction, it was a mostly easy (just one short steep section) 7-minute walk from the hotel to the lifts that go up the Weisshorn. In the other direction, it was less than a 5-minute walk to the very comfortable (and free!) local bus that goes from one end of town to the other. We also liked the meals at the Astoria. While the wide selection at breakfast was good, we actually enjoyed our dinners in the main restaurant even more. One charming note: despite German/English language barriers, guests often struck up conversations with other guests at neighboring tables. Our room (the Romantic Double #1) was perfectly fine but not quite as spacious or as luxurious as we'd imagined based on photos we'd seen ahead of time online. Still, it had a very good (if small) bathroom and a small balcony with a great view to the mountains. Finally, the hosts were always cheerful (if not always chatty) with us -- they seemed more focused on their returning customers, a mainstay of their business, than first-time visitors like us. All in all, the Astoria is a cost-effective and convenient base for exploring Arosa in the summertime.

All the staff, including Peter, Astrid and Sandra were very friendly and helpful. The food was always plentiful and delicious. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel based on its location, warm and welcoming owners and staff, amazing views and excellent food.

After poor weather last year we were determined to give Arosa another go especially with such a lovely hotel to stay at. It's a family run hotel which gives great personal service, very attentive and helpful. Evening meals are a real treat, at a bargain 35 CHF (well bargain for Switzerland!) for a 5 course meal. The Salmon, Chicken and Perch were particulary good. Made use of the Jacuzzi, Steam Room & Sauna which were perfect to wind down after a days walking. Hotel is easy to find near the Bahnhof. I'd highly recommend the hotel and Arosa, especially as you get an Arosa Card which gives you free access to the cable cars. A visit in Winter needs to be planned!

We were a group of 11 Aussies staying for a sporting competition in magnificent Arosa. The staff, managed by an amazing family looked after us and made us feel extremely welcome. This is a great family owned and run hotel. We will not hesitate to stay again when we are back on Arosa! Thank you Hotel Astoria!
