El Establo Mountain Hotel

Beautiful hotel. Great room for a family of 4. The breakfast buffet very good with many options. Friendly staff. The property has Pizotes which are cute animal fun to watch. I highly recommend this hotel for a pleasant stay in Monteverde. Nice pool area but I only wished they had a Hot Tub.

Staff was kind. Loved that there was a gym to exercise. Ziplines on the property.

Resort is very tired and has begun its descent into shabbiness. Our first room had a torn screen and a badly damaged carpet. They switched us to a smaller room of same type that at least had intact screen, but stained and pulled carpet. Gym was okay. No A/C. Loft of our room got very hot.

Excellent option

The check-in was more about policy and procedure versus a friendly welcome. But more importantly , the room was in desperate need of renovation and repair. The carpet was dirty and shredded, the doors were lopsided, the fixtures were broken, the windows didn’t have a screen over them to prevent bugs from coming in, which is a big deal because the hotel doesn’t have air conditioning. The property and rooms were in extremely poor condition and needs a complete renovation in my opinion!

The good: -Large room -Large bathroom -Very clean -Refrigerator in room very useful -Ample parking in each building next to rooms, restaurants, etc. Needs improvement: -Poor sealing of doors and windows so noise from cars, other guests and the smell of gasoline from grass cutting filtered into the room -The bed made a creak as if it were going to break. Quite annoying to sleep on. -Poor quality TV -Quality and quantity of food vs price at Laggus restaurant was hard to justify. Overall, a lot of food in the country is expensive. -Slight sewer smell when flushing toilet. Possibly leaking through screw holes attaching toilet to the ground.

Amazing lodge experience. Very rustic but amazing time enjoying nature.

Lovely location, so clean and comfortable with a friendly staff. A lot of upselling happening which got a little bit exhausting. Quite expensive. Food options were only okay on the property. Better dining options for the price off of the property campus. Will return.
