"Hidden lush garden tucked away in the middle of Tamarindo"

8.0

We just returned from Tamarindo staying at Jardin del Eden and we pleasantly impressed. The hotel is secluded while still being right in the middle of things. The main hotel area is on a hill that is beautifully landscaped and gave an air of privacy despite being right downtown. There is a rather long path (probably close to 100m) downhill to get to the main street and the beach - complete with amusing musical accompaniment as you traverse the path. It is narrow and a bit of a hike when walking back up to the hotel so be warned there. It wasn't terrible but it could be take effort if you don't have strong mobility. We were in a garden room which was right near the pathway to the beach. The room itself was not what I would necessarily describe as luxury but it was nicely appointed mid tier room. It was a fine room, maybe could use some updating but nothing egregious. We had a large comfortable king bed with a large armoire with a safe and a dresser. The dresser has a small mini fridge with some drinks for purchase. I appreciated that this was offered but there was still room in the fridge or our own items (easily purchased waters/beers/etc cheaper across the street) The bathroom was almost as large as the bedroom. Dual sink area with a very large open shower area however the water pressure was pretty weak. We managed but we did have one instance where there was no water pressure as we were getting ready for dinner one night but it resolved itself within an hour. Was probably just bad timing for us. The beach area was probably the best part of about Jardin del Eden. It was another well manicured and maintained grassy area with palapas, chairs, bathroom and a beach bar. This was a private area that kept most of the vendors away (they will still come up to the fence and try to offer) and allow you to keep most of your stuff at your chairs without worrying about it. The beach bar is convenient with Alan making some great drink. You can also order food to have it brought down. While sitting in this area, we saw many birds and a few monkeys in the trees. There are also a few kitties that will come around at the beach area and dinner just to help you out with anything you may have on your plate. ;) Food wise was good but nothing to jump up and down about. Breakfast in the morning was essentially continental (bread, juices, fruit) with an egg/omelet station and a couple hot dishes (usually something vegetable, rice and beans, a bread like pancake or french toast and potato). Most of the prepared dishes were pretty meh for me. The omelet station was the savior for me. The fruit was always fresh and tasty too. For those interested, they usually had a mimosa or bloody mary bar to create your own. For being included, it was fine. At breakfast, you get the menu for the night's dinner in which you select what you want and your seating time. You pick your dinner and change it up until about 4pm with reception. You are able to trade 1 of your dinners every 4 days for a voucher at one of the other Diria restaurants (that limitation was not explained so we ended up using ours earlier and at somewhere we probably would not have). The voucher gives you $20/pp to use at the Italian, Seafood, Mexican, Steakhouse or International restaurant at the Diria resort. The dinner at Jardin was largely good. Some things were better than others - I enjoyed the tropical shrimp dish and the soups and desserts were pretty good. The ribeye steak I got was...fine but you didn't get to pick a temp with any of the steaks which was a bit odd to me and probably impacted my enjoyment. I would say the food at the resort is definitely decent but I enjoyed my meals at DragonFly and other local restaurants better. It was a nice option to have dinner taken care of for me but with all the options in Tamarindo, I would have preferred to not have the dinner option so I could have explored the local option more. Staff was all wonderful. Very attentive and did their best to make sure your enjoyed your time there. Being our first time to Tamarindo, Jardin Del Eden ended up being a great choice for us. A private and comfortable pool and beach area. Secluded but close enough to town to easily walk and experience it. We could the whole time at the resort or wander around with minimal time there. I definitely recommend it as a "not quite" all inclusive for couples who want to be close to Tamarindo but still have privacy if they want it.

"The Reviews Don’t Lie"

10.0

* 4.5 Stars * I’m writing this from the airport, sad to leave this beautiful country! We loved our stay at Jardin del Eden. I’m a very particular person and was worried about some of the recent negative reviews but ignore them! This isn’t the Four Seasons but what it is a lovely, personal, and peaceful experience. The grounds are beautiful! The pools are amazing and clean. The beach a 5 minute walk down a private path. It’s a bit dark, steep and sweaty! I will say if you have accessibility needs, traversing around here is probably difficult. We found out this is low season so nearly every day we had the pool and beach virtually to ourselves! The included continental breakfast was simple and tasty and nice that we didn’t have to leave property. The dinners each evening ranged from tasty to amazing, definitely recommend eating on property. You can trade 1 of your dinners for a voucher to eat at the sister property, which we did 1 night but don’t recommend. The food was mid and it just felt like a tourist trap. Alan was our favorite bartender and Andy at the restaurant was amazing. I maybe had the best daiquiri of my life here. We also did the Thursday spa special and Mali and her partner in the spa were amazing. It was probably one of the best massages I’ve ever had. Merlin at the front desk is awesome. Downtown Tamarindo is a quick 10 minute walk and we spent several evenings there checking out the stores and the bars, it’s super nice to be able to walk. Very safe, quiet and we loved having access to explore somewhere outside of the grounds. Lots of great bars! The rooms are shabby beach chic. Has everything you need and nothing more. My only comment is that we were in room 14 next to reception and every morning it was loud listening to the staff or guests in the lobby. I would go for the garden rooms next time, away from the lobby. All of the staff is so kind and several groups seemed to be return guests. 10/10 Will be back and will bring family and friends. I now understand why they all say “Pura Vida”

Wonderful stay at the Jardín del Edén Boutique Hotel. Staff was so friendly and accommodating, and the hotel itself is really beautiful. There's a walkway down to the main road of Tamarindo, and a beachside lounging area connected to the hotel, which was really convenient. Enjoyed a relaxing couples massage with Yerling and Mali, who were excellent masseuses. Didn't realize this when I booked but Breakfast and Dinner meals are included, and they were both excellent! I especially appreciated the DIY mimosa bar, so I could properly enjoy every morning of my vacation ;-)

Beautiful garden-like property! Excellent service, people were very friendly and helpful. The food quality and selection was great. The beach was right across a small road and the hotel had its own private gated beach area with daybeds, lounge chairs, dipping pool and bar with food orders available. The overall ambiance was perfect for a serene and/ or romantic getaway, for adults only. Loved it!
