Hapuku Lodge & Tree Houses

Stunning to be up in the treehouses. Views were magnificent, and the room was well designed, attractive, and the fire and eady chairs looking up to the mountains were specially appreciated. The garden was also beautifully landscaped and maintained and our tour with Joe was so interesting and enjoyable.

Although the service and presentation of the dinner were first rate, we were a little disappointed with the mains. Day one was the ling with cabbage and gnocchi and all a bit pale, except for the crispy kale, so not very appetising. Day two was the venison, which was somewhat overwhelmed by the rendang curry sauce. We enjoyed all the other courses at dinner.

What a lovely experience. We stayed in a treehouse lodge and the room was absolutely lovely - very bright with a view of mountains on one side and beach the other. Very personal touch with home baked biscuits and very modern amenities. I would say there are a lot of stairs so having big heavy suitcases was a bit of a challenge but staff were very helpful to get them up. Staff were very friendly and kind, especially Abby who was very knowledgeable and Janet who was helpful. Dinner was spectacular, lovely food and very accommodating to halal preferences and breakfast was equally as nice. Very enjoyable stay, lovely location - wish I could have stayed longer.

Unbelievable experience, I can’t recommend it enough. An intimate setting where every detail is thought through and goes together perfectly. Staff go above and beyond to give you a wonderful, luxurious stay. The facilities are stunning, flawless tree houses, bird song throughout the property, delicious food catered for specific dietary requirements. A truly special place that if you are lucky enough to come to, you will not regret.

The treehouse was fantastic…unique accommodation that was brilliantly designed, comfortable and provided a great stay. The food was also exceptional, with good choices and great quality. We really appreciated the early breakfast on our last morning and opening the kitchen a half an hour early for us. The public facilities were top notch. The service from Janet and Mike was incredible and genuine, with Mike’s martini quite memorable. So, why not 5 star? There was a really strange manager-like person who seems clueless about hospitality. He fawned over the only other guest in the dining room one night, seated the other couple the second night, and came into the lounge twice while we were having pre-dinner cocktails and stared at us and left. But he didn’t have the common courtesy to introduce himself, welcome us, or see how our stay was. This creepiness and rudeness ruined an otherwise flawless stay.

Such a relaxing experience. Our family felt welcome since arrival and well taken care of throughout our stay. Every detail is taken care of and staff are very friendly. Food is amazing 👏 Service is beyond expectations. Facilities are lovely (spa hidden in the forest, mineral heated pool and cold plunge, veggies garden and nature walk trails) Thanks you Emile and everyone on the team.

This is a real treat - if you want to feel special even for one night this is the place - fabulous staff / food / surroundings and of course the TREE TOP room - stunning views from every window. For a technophobe - there may have been too many remotes in the room - but it was fun finding out what they all did !! We wish we could have stayed longer to make use of the many facilities available to guests - but we will be back in the winter to see that view with snow!
