It was pleasant, restaurant service slow, even with advance warning in the mornings
Room was fine, small living area w/kitchenette and separate bedroom. Beach area was very nice, secure and secluded. Didn't realize when booking that the room had no a/c, and it was quite warm and humid the day we were there. That was the only real drawback.
Hot and humid area, but a well needed getaway. The room was big enough for a family of 3 and generally neat, but the sleeper couch was filthy and so were most of the utensils in the kitchen. The pool was green and couldn't make use of it and the 'private beach' a big NO NO. Spent most of the stay at alkantstrand beach and city centre.
Comfortable and always great
A big thank you to all staff at Umvubu Lodge. We booked into the Double Room. Our room was always clean and was so nice and cool with fans and aircons, the deck was lovely to sit and braai in the evening. I do though suggest that on Christmas Day the staff get the day off... a number of people didn't want the ladies cleaning on this day, maybe if particular people insist on having their rooms cleaned they need to pay an extra fee for this day. Christmas Day should be spent with family. Thank you once again, all staff were really friendly at all times. :) This is the perfect place to go to if you want to relax and de-stress... the private beach is lovely for fishing and just taking in the beauty of the sea.

The Restaurant food is excellent. Fantastic chef. Prices are very high. Only one pool for such a big number of chalets. Need to leave the " resort" fo entertainment......
Excellent breakaway for a quiet relaxing holiday
We love this resort due to its private access to the beach. However, on arrival we learned that the access steps to the beach were washed away and we could not access the beach! Our entire purpose of making the trip was to go to the beach, if they told us when we booked we would have gladly booked somewhere else, but ended up driving from Johannesburg for nothing.
I got a free upgrade to the honeymoon suite. Although I was on business. Everyone was really friendly and helpful with the arrangements my travel agent made for me.
