Phāea Cretan Malia, a Member of Design Hotels

Since we travelled by car, the hotel’s location was not a concern for us. We were warmly welcomed by very friendly and attentive staff, and the hotel’s aesthetic is truly stunning. The garden is beautifully lush — filled with a wonderful variety of plants — and our child absolutely loved the cat café in front of the hotel, where the staff provide food for the local cats to keep them peacefully away from the main hotel area. The beach is lovely, though we didn’t spend much time there as it was quite windy during our stay. Breakfast was excellent, with a generous selection of options to choose from. Beds were really comfy. Although nearly every family had one or two children under the age of five, the atmosphere remained calm and noticeably quieter than at many larger family-friendly hotels.

The family room felt quite cramped, and the bathroom was especially tight — there was no underfloor heating, which meant the floor stayed constantly wet after showering. The room was also very humid, and the air conditioning did little to help with this. The noise from the neighbouring hotel was a significant issue. Loud music played every night until 11 pm, which was particularly frustrating given that this is marketed as a family-friendly hotel and we were travelling with a young child. It happened every single night and genuinely affected our stay. The pools looked a little tired and could have been warmer for May. Finally, drinks and food at the hotel restaurants were extremely overpriced — even by local upscale dining standards.

Es hat aufgrund der grünen Anlage sehr viele Ameisen im Zimmer....

Super vriendelijk personeel dat altijd voor je klaarstaat. Prachtig gelegen vlakbij het strand. Heerlijk eten zowel tijdens ontbijt als in de eigen restaurants. Vooral het Mezze restaurant was heerlijk!

Geen koffiemachine in de ontbijtruimte maar personeel bracht wel steeds de koffie. Veel muggen op de kamer eerste nacht.

L’emplacement. L’ambiance cosy du lobby. Les chambres vue sur mer confortables. La piscine chauffée en ce début de saison. Le buffet du petit-déjeuner excellent.

Problème de staff à la piscine (serviettes usagées qui envahissent vite les abords de la piscine principale), mais peut-être du à ce début de saison. Pas de VMC dans la salle de bain. Restaurants relativement chers.
