The Inn at Stonecliffe

Breakfast was good but a little to expensive (in dining room). I decided after trying restaurant one time for breakfast to go to the general store instead - which was good.

The inability to reserve a seat on the hourly horse shuttle. We almost did not get to take a shuttle (for luncheon reservation at the Grand) because there were too many people wanting to utilize the shuttle. Depended on the kindness of a family who was willing to make room by sitting children on their laps.

Great location and very nice accommodations. Emily at the front desk was very professional and helpful.

The dining room at The Straights was very disorganized. We had an 8:30PM reservation and it was like they had no idea we were coming. The hostess walked us around and then asked us to go back out to the Lin y and wait while she “found us a table”- really? Spelling errors on the menu ?Primr” filet? The food was OK and the service “OK”.

The location is picturesque. It takes 40 minutes for the horse taxi to get to town which although quite inconvenient, it was actually quite peaceful. I think the Inn has a variety of activities in season so people can do things without going in town. All of those activities had not started up yet when we were there. We did get massages which were wonderful. We did eat at the Woods, which although not affiliated with the Inn, was so close it felt like it was. We stayed at the Summer House, the rooms were spacious, quiet, and very comfortable.

While the location is serene, it was so far from the main drag of town and took 40 minutes to reach by taxi. I wish I would have known that when I booked. Technically walkable but we never did the walk as it was cold and rainy when we were there. Also the taxi was advertised as a shuttle - it wasn't clear to me that this was not a free service of the Inn, we had to pay each time.

It was very elegant and well kept. The rooms were very nice and spacious and clean. I loved the outdoor activities for families.

The proximity to town was a little inconvenient, but it was also nice because you got to get away from the hustle and bustle. Both drivers for the Stonecliffe horse and buggy we had were not very friendly and one of them seemed very uneducated about how to drive the horses. I think the price is a bit steep.

Everything! Wonderful room…good… staff…facilities.
