"Bellissimo Lodge immerso nella foresta"

10.0

"I seriously wouldn’t even contemplate staying here - Shame that the owners let the place go as the setting itself was qu"

2.0

We were very excited to arrive in the beautiful Daintree rainforest for our stay at the Heritage Lodge only to find as the hours went on the state of the dwelling itself, the inadequate extras and the ridiculous placement of things where they shouldn’t be! The fridge was in the bathroom - surely a health hazard !?! - the chord from said fridge went through the u-bend under the tap to the power point in the corner under the bathroom vanity and there was rust, mould and general grime on the air-conditioning chords in the bedroom! Bed was a disaster, no comfortable couch inside, chairs on the verandah were beyond uncomfortable and the walls sounded like they were paper thin! Not to mention the atrocious state of the louvers that were rusty as well in the bedroom/living area! My partner and I even killed a few fleas inside and on the verandah over three nights!!!

We ordered drinks before dinner which were adequate and by the time we had our main meals delivered to the table - after waiting patiently for one of the waitresses attention to even place an order! - we were not surprised at the appalling meals that arrived. My partner took one bite of what he realised was supposed to be a ‘risotto’ - which resembled boiled clag glue, in other words boiled Arborio rice with no flavour whatsoever! - with a sauce that looked like pureed gravel and a piece of chicken breast that looked and smelt like it was boiled! ‘Red wine braised’ it was clearly not! I took a bite into what I was told was ‘miso roasted eggplant’ that tasted and looked like utter slop with what looked like half-melted pizza cheese on it! ‘Parmesan’ it was clearly not! We left the table and went to leave and said we would pay for the drinks and the garlic bread but not the main meals! This is where it got interesting - my partner asked to speak to the chef and within 15 seconds we had this drunk woman behind us right in our personal space asking what was wrong. We assumed it was the owner and after we said we were not paying for such disgusting food - all meals were over $35 !!! - we were told that we didn’t have to pay for any of the food, thankfully! After we asked why the food and service was so atrocious we were gaslighted with ‘well no one else has complained’ - almost reminiscent of a ‘Fawlty Towers’ episode, I kid you not! We said we would not come back for the duration of our stay to eat there.

Dinner was exceptional. The resort offered happy hour which was great. Breakfast was plentiful. Having its own private water hole was incredible!

"Clean, comfortable and quiet in the heart of the rainforest"

8.0

Set deep in the rain forest, quiet except the welcome sounds of the birdie and close to the sights of the Daintree

Nothing to grumble about but access to internet in the cabins would have been nice. No doubt many others would welcome that break from the omnipresent internet.

Breaky, service and meals were fine but food was a little expensive for what we received.

Mostly the issue lies with the quality and standard of the property which seemed to be somewhat run down. the accommodation rooms are average at best in quality and are in line with a 3 star ven
