Hotel Du Lac & SPA

We booked Hotel du Lac for 4 nights after looking at all the wonderful reviews. We can honestly say that those 5 stars reviews were absolutely spot on and that the hotel exceeded our expectations . From the location , to the newly redecorated bedrooms, the very welcoming staff , the amazing breakfast on offer , this definitely felt more like a luxury hotel than their 3 stars rating. We stayed in a room with terrace overlooking the lake and the views were absolutely breathtaking. The bed was one of the most comfortable one we ever slept in, the bathroom and bedroom were decorated to a very high standard and felt very luxurious. We had dinner at their 1st floor restaurant, Gioya to celebrate our 30th anniversary and found the food, staff members and whole experience outstanding and worthy of a Michelin star restaurant. If you are wondering were to stay in Bellagio, stay at Hotel du Lac, you will not be disappointed !!

Excellent service very friendly stuff breakfast was delicious

Unbeatable location. Wonderful staff. Every one. Despite we had the basic room without lake view it was absolutely ok. Small but supercomfy bed, great shower, good pillows and also small balcony. Clean and feeling new. Two restaurants. One is bistro, relaxed with good food and drinks. Other is "fine dinning" style restaurant with amazing view, excellent yet relaxed service and interesting twist of italian cusine. The breakfast was also nice. Parking for reasonable 25€ in nearby private garage. It is family run small hotel and I love the way they improve every year something. Excellent value for money escecially if you have room with view.

We booked a lake view room which was stunning. Opening the curtains to see the sun sparkling on the lake was jusr glorious! (Unfortunately it rained most days). We also absolutely loved opening our French windows (double door size) and using our comfy bed as loungers to read books, and listen to the birds, boats and buzz from below. We used our balcony in a similar manner although here wine was occasionally involved. The staff were exceptional throughout and we loved the residents only spa (no extra charge). A couple of disappointing elements though. Hot food at breakfast was really tasty but warm at best. Other items were delicious - I could get used to having cake and proseco each morning. We were on the fourth floor so had the rooftop bar directly above. We had hoped to use this but the weather generally ruined that plan. However on each nice night our sleep was dusturbed by the constant grating of chairs. However the bar was not ooen too late. We ate in the hotel bistro on one occasion and unfortunately considered the food overpriced and rather bland. Portions were - for us - on the small side. Staff there too were very pleasant. The location of Hotel Du Lac is perfect and each morning I could nip out to the jetty to buy ferry tickets before my breakfast and before the queues formed. All in all a great base from which to explore Lake Como.
