Super 8 by Wyndham Marshalltown

I made a reservation here on Jan28th for two rooms for a group of bicycle riders participating in RAGBRAI. The ride is passing through Tama-Toledo on July 28th and this was as close as I could find. I made this reservation as soon as the route was announced and was lucky to get this close to the overnight town. On Feb 6th the hotel cancelled my reservations (as well as many other people who made their reservations there. I called the property 3 times about this situation. Three times I was told that the manager would call me back. Three times I never received that call. The only time I got any feedback from the manager was after I contacted Wyndham directly. Even then all I got was that they were already contracted with a "cornfield company". Which begs the question that if they were already contracted how was I (and many others) able to make a reservation? Wyndham itself was of no help except to send me emails that said they would "contact me within a week regarding my concern." That was Feb 27th. They still haven't made that contact. I understand that they kicked a bunch of people out because they could charge more for the room. I also understand that if I reserve a room and don't show up they will charge me for that room, after all they are mostly selling time and they can't get that time back, unused and unpaid for reservation is a costly waste for them. So now, I have to spend more time finding a new place, I have to travel much farther to find adequate rooms, and I have to spend more for those rooms. You would think that they would offer some kind of compensation for the time and effort that they caused to be wasted or even an apology. Didn't happen.

We did not have any issues with the hotel. It was by far the cheapest in the area per night. Staff was very friendly. Room was nothing fancy but it was clean and had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable. We had some additional requests and they were easily accomodated. Would stay again.

Nothing. I will never stay again

The leftover bar of soap in the top of the shower, housekeeping trying to just budge in the door,hvac sounded like a motor, hair in the bathroom.

Everything first room tv didn’t work The tub was nasty holes in the door. Second room was a little better but not much won’t ever stay there again

1 the rooms aren’t clean and there was cigarette holes in the blanket in our non-smoke room and they don’t speak English vary well literally I would recommend you never stay at this dump there was cum stains and blood on stuff we ended up canceling and not staying there and just driving three hours home it’s probably the worst place you could ever stay I would rather sleep under a rock then ever go back
