Great value at £100 a night. Fantastic breakfast. Character hotel in large grounds. Swimming pool and good gym. Friendly staff.

Toilet flush in room was faulty. Needs a little maintenance in parts. Expensive bar. Lightning.

Dirty dishes left outside door on arrival. Burnt pizza. Rundown - needs painting and upgrading Email from venue asking if we’d like an upgrade and to state a price willing to pay. .Emailed back stating yes and offered price but no response given and no upgrade on arrival

Amazing 1400s gatehouse entrance with original features inside the restaurant eg wood wall panelling, huge fireplace and ornate ceiling. All the staff were really friendly, the food/drink was great and reasonably priced (£7 glass of Prosecco), everywhere was very clean and my bedroom was spacious and comfortable.

Some of the back parts of the property needed a lick of paint but this didn’t impact my stay at all and they are clearly in the process of sorting this out. I think they could make more of the age of the gatehouse etc with more plaques and info, but the staff themselves were very knowledgeable. No photos on website of the spa which worried me when booking but it was fine - decent sized pool, big jacuzzi, smart steam room and sauna.
