"very good for Russia standards"

10.0

I liked this hotel a lot because unlike most non-expensive hotels in Russia, this one has a lot of small details that make your stay much nicer, such as plenty of room for clothes and accesories, several power outlets to plug electronics, good wireless internet speed, air conditioning (in some rooms), great location, good price (if booked through hotels.com), friendly staff... the only reason for not giving five stars is that beds are kind of small and not very comfortable.. which is common in Russia. San Pet is the best, because people is more friendly and happy than in Moscow where people seem to either angry or bored. I will recommend this hotel and I will come back.

"Good economy hotel in great location"

8.0

The location of the hotel is really good, offering short walks to all the major attractions on and off Nevsky Prospect. The room was very comfortable - though the staircase up to the room was quite grotty! Breakfast was very adequate with a reasonable choice of food. The reception staff were not very organised however.

"very good central budget hotel"

8.0

Excellent location! Above average accommodation if you are interested in a comfortable bed and clean, well working shower facilities, decent breakfast, good wifi access. Good English spoken. However, a mandatory shuttle service fee from/to the airport was meant to be included; this service had not been arranged in my case and nobody at the hotel was able to sort this out - so I ended up paying twice.

"Hotel Nevsky Astor"

8.0

Very convenient location, able to walk to hermitage, and other sights. Close to metro. Room extremely small, but bathroom adequate. Maintainance being undertaken in court yard at front of hotel was noisy, also noisy overnight with drunken revellers outside in courtyard, shouting for several hours with one another, take ear plugs or ask for room at back, might be quieter. Indifferent breakfast, but overall location, standard and price meant that it assets to merit it

"Great location but small rooms"

8.0

Small rooms - but you are in Russia. You cannot expect big rooms here for the price. It fit a double bed, a small walk way to the bed, a small bathroom. After all of your bags are in the room, you will not fit much else in there. But it is what you expect. It was a clean room, the shower was spotless. Again, with the small room, the toilet was almost in the shower. But we had no real issue with that. The staff mostly spoke enough English to get by. We did not ask them too many questions as we had others to show us around. The location was great. You could not really do any better in this city. You are close to all of the main sites. An easy 5 min walk to the hermitage, 5 min to the main church, close enough to a metro (which we never even used) and a lot of restaurants and bars around. I will recommend a Georgian restaurant a block away on Nevsky (under an Asian restaurant). Also, Spy Bar down the road is also interesting to stop by. The hotel does offer their own taxi driver for airport rides. A note of caution on this - he got us to the airport on time, he was on time to the hotel, and we had no issue with his driving. It cost around 1200 rubles for the ride, so it was a reasonable rate. He did, however, take us to the wrong terminal. We were flying international and he took us to the main international terminal - but we apparently were on an airline that only flies from the other terminal. So, after some confusion and trying to find someone who spoke English, we found that out. It cost us another 700 rubles (we got ripped off, but were in a hurry by this point) to get to the other terminal. So, just make sure you know which terminal and that shouldnt be a problem. There was no real noise complaints. You could hear the doors opening and closing, but for the price, it was no issue. The bed was comfortable and looked clean. The halls did somewhat smell of smoke even though it was a non-smoking hotel, but I think everything in Russia smells of smoke due to everyone's clothes smelling of smoke. We never made it to breakfast, so no comment there.

"Great no frills hotel close to all sights"

8.0

This is a great no frills clean hotel within walking distance to all major attractions of St Pete. Most rooms have free wifi and breakfast is included. The breakfast is excellent even though spread and choices are limited compared to five stars. The rooms and bathrooms are spotless clean and very functional. The hotel does not have any elevators and the stairwells are not very clean. Hence please take care if you are carrying heavy luggage. Try and avoid rooms in the upper floors. There are great food and drink choices available withink walking distance. The hotel front desk staff is very helpful and speaks english quite well. This is an excellent value for money hotel for stays where you will be spending most of the time roaming around St Pete sightseeing.

"Great location and price but no air conditioner"

8.0

I thought the location was excellent, only two blocks from the Hermitage and Church and Spilled Blood as well as the main street, Nevsky Prospect but there was no air con for the room. It was not that bad though because we were there in late June and the rain helped cool the room down. There was wireless internet, free breakfast and they did keep our luggage for almost a full day. Overall it was a pretty good experience.
