Character, Location and great food served in the restaurant

Frequent blockades by Police around the Hotel causes great inconvenience to Hotel guests. Hotel needs to warn guests beforehand and provide tips on how to mitigate the inconvenience caused.

What a fabulous birthday stay at the Gran Hotel. The warm and friendly welcome and glass of fizz was lovely after a long journey. The bell boy was also friendly and helpful and I loved the ride up in the historic elevator. I had booked a junior suite but was upgraded to a master suite and arriving in the dark, the first view I got walking into the bedroom was the Zocola all lit up. The bedroom, bathroom and lounge are all tastefully decorated, the bed is huge and comfortable. It is noisy outside, even with earplugs but this is balanced out by the view of the sunrise. I never go tired of looking at the ceiling, it was a delight in a morning and in early evening. All staff are very cheerful and friendly. Breakfast was a delight, lovely fresh food, cheery atmosphere and staff and great views. I ate in the restaurant two nights, one of the nights for my birthday and they made a fuss, sang happy birthday and presented a small cake with a firework. Made it very special. Food was good and again, the staff were fabulous. There was a welcome plate of sweet treats in the room and a bottle of red wine, which I didn't drink, but it was a nice touch. There is water, drinks, nibbles and fruit in the downstairs lounge. Location is great for museums, parks, HoHo buses. I just loved everything about it.

The hotel arranged transportation for me to get to Cuernavaca and to return to Mexico City/Airport due to the fact that I didn’t know if there was going to be available transportation in my other destination. Our driver was Flavio. He was very professional, punctual, and his car was clean. I observed the road and I would not have felt safe driving. Flavio made the drive feel very safe. I would recommend his services for anyone that needs to drive long distances.

We have visited México City many times over the course of the past decade and each time we make the Gran Hotel Ciudad our home. Each stay we experience the same high level of comfort and care offered to us by the hotel staff. Cynthia Gomez and her team at the front desk welcome guests in a spirit of authentic, warm hospitality- with genuine care for their preferences and needs. This recent visit was no exception. I cannot thank the hotel enough for their attention to detail from the moment we stepped foot inside the front door to the moment we made our way to the airport. In fact- I thoughtlessly forgot a package at the hotel when we checked out. Cynthia and her team made sure the package arrived at the airport and was safely in my hands before we boarded to return home. We will be sure to book in at The Gran Hotel Ciudad for our next visit to Mexico City! Oh. Did I mention the spectacular beauty of the place?… ;))

Great place to stay with your family 10 out of 10 very nice and friendly staff the Manager Cynthia is the best. If you like to book down town close to the Zocalo. this is the place to be.
