Holiday Inn Express & Suites Port Charlotte by IHG

Had no maid service in my room. This was despite the fact there were two maids, one in the room next to me, and one across the hall cleaning rooms. Very dissappointing. The whole experience was uneven. Positive: Friendly personnel, easy check-in,good breakfast and good bed. Negative: No maid service, had a green crawler (tadpole) in bathroom sink, shower door was uneven causing water to escape while showering and there was no ceiling fan in the bathroom. Noisy guests.

To be fair the hotel is doing a renovation. That is the main reason for the reduction in condition score. However, the floors in my room were either stained or dirty...I did not try to clean. The refrigerator also was not working, didn't realize until the next morning when milk was warm. I have stayed here twice and plan to go back in January. Expectations will be higher when I return.

Convenient, will be better once all renovations have been completed. Stayed twice in three weeks with lots of construction going on. Although the room furnishings are new and very nice, my room had an odor probably from the carpet. The room I had a few weeks ago smelled musty due to water leaking from the window. Great complimentary breakfast.

While there was still some remodeling going on downstairs, the rooms were immaculate with very comfortable beds and the staff went over and above to make us feel very welcome and appreciated

New furnishings including new beds are terrific. Wasn’t aware the hotel was under renovation and fitness area not available. Breakfast was hot, plentiful and very good. Window had significant condensation which caused a musty odor in the room. I was able to place 2 hand towels and desk manager indicated she would have it looked at. I appreciated an early arrival check in. Will be back again.

Convenient, clean, updated hotel. Loved the lovely water view from our window. Excellent breakfast. Great value for the money.

Nice room, bathroom floor and carpet had " dirt" spots. Awesome view of small lake out back. Breakfast not as good as I remembered from staying there before.

Great night's sleep on new mattresses (medium firmness, "just right" Goldilocks rating). Room was attractive & clean with plenty of space to spread out suitcases, extremely nice for a mid-priced hotel. Breakfast was outstanding, with fresh batches of eggs, cinnamon rolls, and the BEST biscuits I've ever eaten coming out of the kitchen regularly -- no pre-cooked warmed-over stuff here! The automatic pancake machine was nifty, but the actual pancakes were meh. No problem as there were bagels (cream cheese & jelly), cereal, yogurt, eggs (scrambled & cold hard boiled), bacon, sausage, biscuits, sausage gravy, sweet rolls, and more. First experience with instant grits (made with available hot water that also served for the selection of teas), and I may not bother with stovetop version again at home - thanks for introducing me to them! The orange juice was delicious, a great Florida welcome! Also grapefruit juice and another choice (apple maybe?). Coffee was great and available 24/7! We stayed 1 night en route to destination so didn't use pool etc, but everything in this facility looked beautifully kept up. They did have renovations underway, no bother to us, but not sure about noise during the day if you're staying multiple nights, just FYI. Location was right off highway 75, about midway between Tampa and Sanibel Island.
