Cabinas La Catarata

I booked a standard room, which was much larger than expected... I think I was upgraded to a king deluxe, so that was a pleasant surprise. The bed was very cozy and spacious. They had a good AC system, which was useful for hot evenings. The patio had a hammock and an amazing view of nature. There were these really cute geckos hanging out on the windows of the bathroom whenever I took a shower. We also saw some beautiful Curassow birds. The location is beautiful, with a trail that leads down to a river for swimming. There was a nice pool on site, as well. The breakfasts were tasty and they feed you lots of food. It's a very short uber ride to downtown and the local attractions. Such a delight! It isn't a luxury hotel, but to me, it felt like a slice of paradise.

Because of the climate, any wet towels or laundry would get mildew very quickly, so an additional towel rack would have been useful. The TV remote seemed to be broken because it worked very slowly and sometimes didn't respond, but with some patience it was okay. If you have a fear of bugs, lizards, or geckos, you might want to stay at a place that isn't sitting directly by the forest.

We stayed in one of the deluxe suites which is very modern, and down by the river. It was lovely, and very spacious and surrounded by trees. The wooden cabins all looked lovely too. Good pool. The complimentary breakfast was excellent and we really enjoyed that! The property was a 5 min drive from La Fortuna which suited us as La Fortuna is very busy with traffic. We also walked in , but that is about 25/30 mins. There are a couple of nice restaurants /bars within a 5/10 minute walk if you don't want to go into town. Ideal base for a trip to the area.
