Hampton Inn Middletown

We come to Middletown to visit family several times a year. Middletown is not blessed with a multitude of hotel choices. On previous visits, this hotel has been decent. Generally, clean at a decent price point. This last visit will be our last to this hotel! We last stayed here during the holidays in 2025. Not sure what happened but the place has nose dived from decent to a DUMP. Specifically, zero has been done in terms of basic maintenance or upkeep. Beds are worn out, curtains frayed and carpets worn. We had a specific problem also, seems our room was a handicap room and as such, had a floor drain near the shower. The floor drain was missing its top grate, leaving a gap of 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch between the floor surface. Just enough to allow a trip or floor stub or a wheelchair to get stuck in the hole. The missing grate also allowed sewer smells to waft into the bathroom We dutifully advised the front desk of this situation, complete with photos, to be told, “ its always been like that “. To make it even more delightful, due to a wedding, the hotel was full over the weekend. To welcome its occupancy, the hotel decided to price gouge its occupancy by raising the rates for those nights from $130 or so, to over $400. For this dump! Never again.

Friendly staff who tried to be helpful. Very convenient location with nice buffet breakfast.

The ice making machine on my floor was broken...again! Also, the luggage carts could use a good cleaning.

The staff at the front desk was always welcoming and polite.

I needed to change my flight home to a day earlier for medical reasons. I was told by your company and booking.com that I would be refunded for the night of 5/11/26. That didn't happen and apparently wont be afforded to me. Otherwise everything was great.

Booked the room, wanting access to a hot-tub. The hot-tub was filled but the jets did not work. I called the facility prior to booking and was confirmed that the hotel did have a hot-tub. Was not told that it was not operational. This would have impacted my reserving at room at this facility.
