"An enjoyable stay."

10.0

I'm surprised at the amount of bad reviews, my personal experience was excellent, a clean and well maintained room, the overall appearance of the hotel in general was good, lovely staff and absolutely amazing food from the restaurant. I can't fault the place, I have stayed in a lot worse hotels than Da Vinci's that is for sure. 🤠

"Amazing experience"

10.0

I have to say I have been going to Da Vincis for years, wasnt sure about the change, me just being over familiar with the norm, I have to say we went to the restaurant for our Sunday lunch last week, Leona and staff were amazing. Leona is a great front of house in the restaurant, very welcoming, very genuine and professional Yea teething problems but when u feel like nothings a problem and the service and food was amazing it just fell into place, when the staff make it their business to make u feel special and I’m sure that was carried out with all customers in the restaurant was great. Went to the bar and Les is an absolute diamond, breath of fresh air, I have to say the changes are good and very welcome, keep up the great transformation as I’m sure this is only the start of a new generation in da vincis.

"Dreadful experience would not go back. Tired and dated hotel that lacks care. Would recommend people avoid this hotel."

2.0

Pros Location - ideal for the city centre Car parking is free and on site The man who checked us in and called when the room was ready was friendly and helpful. Staff at breakfast were pleasant. The second room (renovated) was better, (though there were still holes in window nets, pipes on radiator were old and one chair at table was rickety. The water pressure was poor.) Cons Cost - the cost for 3 nights was £389 total which was expensive anyway but overpriced for the poor quality of the hotel. Where to start? We are put in room 309. On first glance the room looked ok. Two double beds and decent size. It went downhill from there. The springs on one mattress on had gone - a spring was actually sticking out the side and almost caught my leg. The mattress was unsupportive and uncomfortable as a result. The spring was sticking through the bedding causing holes in the bedding. The furniture is old and damaged. One chair is very rickety and we were scared to sit on it. The nets on the window had holes. The walls were stained with what looked like splashed coffee/liquids. The kettle is filthy and had slime and limescale inside. The carpet is torn and damaged in several places. The bathroom door does not shut. There is damage to a number of walls. The bathroom mirror is chipped and damaged. When we looked at the pillows one of them had a pubic hair on! When we looked for a replacement in the cupboard there were spares but these were dirty and covered in make up stains. Other pillows are stained. Some pillows do have a pillow case protectors others just have the pillow case. There is a lot of noise from fans and generators when you open the windows (which have to be opened due to heat). Despite the heat there are no fans in the rooms (no air con). There is a lack of sockets and none near the beds. The handles on the bedside drawers were sticky. As we arrived later in the evening on our first night we complained to reception but did not want to move then as we had had a long day and were tired. They advised they would hold a room the following day that we could look at and move. They said they would leave a note for manager/morning staff. I requested replacement pillows be given. One was brought a short while later. Fortunately we travel with wet wipes and were able to wipe the room down. After breakfast (which was ok on day 1) we went to reception to arrange the room move. The woman on reception told us rudely she knew nothing about it. I explained the man had said he would leave a note. She then walked over to another part of reception and checked notes and confirmed this. She proceeded to type away on a computer without comment. We had to ask if this meant they had another room we would be able to move to which she initially answered I don’t know yet. She then suggested another room and said it would be fine as it had been refurbished. I asked to view it first. She said no initially but I insisted. She told us to go up and meet the housekeeper who would show us the room. Throughout this interaction the woman (Sorcha I believe her name is) was abrupt, rude, never apologised and made us feel an inconvenience. It was not our fault the room was disgusting and unsuitable. To be fair the housekeeper (whose name I unfortunately did not get) was lovely, helpful and apologetic. We went to view the room they said we could change us to and one of us went down to get the key for this as advised. The woman on reception said they would not give us the key until we checked out of the other room. So we had to pack everything up and go to reception rather than just moving our stuff straight to the other room. We have never had to do this in any other hotel when there has been an issue with a room during a stay. However, the room we were supposed to move to had a door lock then wasn’t working! So the housekeeper advised there was another room we could change to, but not yet cleaned (10.15am) and they would clean it next and move us there. We thanked her and at her request showed she the damaged mattress in our current room. So we went and packed up and checked out of our room just before 11am. Went down to reception and asked if our new room was ready yet? We were bluntly told no. When I enquired if they had a rough estimate for when it would be ready was told they had no idea. The woman we dealt with on reception (Sorcha?) was rude, curt and abrupt in how she spoke to us. Not once was there an apology for the issues or inconvenience. With no idea when we would get into our room we decided to leave for a walk and asked if they could call us when the room was ready. The man who had checked us in the prior night (Rowan?) said yes and at 12.08 he called to advise the room was ready. We walked back and checked in. The refurbished room was better, though still a few issues. On day 3 we were out and housekeeping went into the room. They took our second key, did not top up the biscuits or the toilet roll so on day 4 we had to go to reception to ask for toilet roll as it ran out. Breakfast - first was ok. Second we had to ask for bread as none was out. No yoghurt. Third - they told us they ran out of orange juice and yoghurt as there was an issue with delivery. There was no food available at lunch or evening as the hotel is being done up. But to be fair we were emailed before arrival to advise of this - though we were assured that the refurbishment would not impact our rooms and stay. Given we were put in an old renovated and unsuitable room which should never have been used we were still charged the same price as the renovated room. Overall the staff, with one exception, were pleasant and friendly. We visit Derry regularly to see family but unless we were desperate we would not stay here again given our experience.

"Loud and uncomfortable"

2.0

No refrigerator. Extremely hard double bed is too small for 2 adults to fit easily and is not comfortable at all. Fan in bathroom has switch that is nearly impossible to reach. All night long, loud people were yelling in the hallways each night.

"Enjoyed our stay"

10.0

Plenty of parking. Room was clean and had what we needed although a fridge would have been nice too. Breakfast was adequate with a good choice of continental and hot food. Lots of space to sit and eat. We understand the hotel is under renovation by the new owners and therefore dinner was not available whilst we were there.
