Truly, this resort is a romantic gem, in a spectacular location! We stayed 3 nights, including 3 breakfasts (guava pancakes are yum), and 2 dinners (try the mofongo!). The ocean-front views were always wonderful: beautiful and relaxing. The pool was delightful, and we were pleased to learn horses no longer roam the property or drink from the pool. The dirt road in is quite pot-holy, and the stairway to the beach is closed due to erosion. Our only excursion was a great nighttime boat tour on the bioluminescent bay. Esperanza for us was more enjoyable in the daytime than late at night. Blue Horizon feels remote, but the destination is well worth the ferry and drive to get there.

"Overall if you are looking for a secluded resort with beach access for walking, this is an amazing property."

The views and serenity were stunning. Just a few feet from the beach.

Food times and options limited. Bar closes very early

"A little slice of island bliss plus horses!"

10.0

This is our second time at the Blue Horizon & it was just as good as the first time. We stayed in a lovely room with AC that was easy to adjust & the only noise you hear at night are the horses neighing. We had breakfast & dessert at the restaurant. The coffee is good & the food fine but remember you are on Island Time. David of the front desk is very helpful & very easy to chat with. If you have questions about things to do on the island he would be a good resource. The setting is so pretty & serene overlooking the water. The pool is just my favorite & the perfect temperature.

"Good but for room 110"

6.0

the bumpy driveway could use some light at night ( solar?) room 110 is a room to book when nothing else is available ( our case ) . It is large and pretty at first glance . "the garden view"consists of a glass panel with a few green plants behind it. No other view or windows available. No tv which would not have been a problem but the wifi was spotty at best. Fortunately the lounge is just outside the door. the unusual bath room is pretty but not very practical : there is no shelf in the shower to put soap and shampoo. A pretty stool will solve that problem . The toilet, opening directly into the bedroom has no ventilation . Pod coffee and kettle ( not plugged in behind heavy furniture) are provided. Bedside computer plugs are appreciated. The property is beautifully located with a fantastic pool and seaview , not far ( by car) to the restaurants and life of Esperanza. The other rooms are in bungalows and have a small porch and full ocean views.

Not sure if the bar was open on a regular basis. the drink made was poor made with syrup rather than natural fruit juice. Breakfast of huevos rancheros was good but arrived like warm with undercooked potatoes. An order of toast and jam came with one overtoasted bread slice.

"Blue Horizon Feb. 2025"

8.0

We loved Blue Horizon. We flew in via Cape Air. Our rental jeep was waiting at airport. Island easy to navigate. Roads are in pretty rough shape! Definitely gives potholes in Maine a run for their money! Greeted kindly and check in with Dave. The property is beautiful. Pool was amazing. Bar and restaurant although not really busy, not very quick. We were told it was island-time! Ate mostly appetizers and did not spend the money on the entrees. Banana pancakes and Coconut shrimp were delicious! Room was comfortable. Bed comfortable. AC worked great, plenty of hot water. Be aware of $24/daily energy charge and $42/daily room tax! $65 daily charge! Read the small print. I assumed one-time fee, not daily. Regardless we enjoyed our stay. Yes..The horses are everywhere! Some people offended by horse poop..not us! Mosquitos came out when the sun went down. Bring bug spray! Overall, we would go back. I do feel the hotel is expensive with very little amenities. They had many ground crews working and fixing things for a renovation.
