Hotel Bonalba Alicante

This hotel has a lot of potential but a few things let it down unfortunately. There needs to be more information for English guests as we were not told where to go for food, once we found it the food wasn’t labelled so we didn’t know what we were eating. There’s not enough choice for English children, my daughter lived on spaghetti and sauce but sometimes the pasta wasn’t cooked enough. There’s food I did have was nice a paella and a pork dish (I think) breakfast is the best out of the three but cold so I used the microwave to heat the food up. On the 2nd day I found out that you can order burger and chips, pizza, sandwiches and ice cream from the lobby bar at lunchtime which made things a bit better as the kids could then enjoy a good meal. The food was lovely from the bar but this needs to be made more obvious for the guests as no indication of this anywhere. Cocktails are a choice of only 1 choice per day, never had that before and slushes not included in all inclusive either so kids not happy. Pool is beautiful but needs a lot of maintenance we found broken tiles in the pool and my daughter cut her toe on a sharp broken bit of the pool. The rooms are lovely and always tidy no complaints there but walls are thin and we had very noisy neighbours that I could hear everything, we had a pool view which was lovely but the bar underneath is which was very load right into early hours wasn’t great on the last night as we had to be up early for a flight so got no sleep. No entertainment on while we were there apart from karaoke on last night which was way too load and couldn’t hear each other even speak. As the hotel is isolated with only four bars a 5 min walk away the hotel could offer more for their guests. The staff were hit and miss sometimes you’d get a very helpful member and others were rude. A lot of miss information too and one day you could have something included in all inclusive then the next day no not allowed so it’s very confusing for guests. Unfortunately I wouldn’t return to this hotel which is a shame as I can see its potential. Also I tagged them a few times is lovely pictures and videos for social media but they only seem to share Spanish visitors posts which I thought they could be more inclusive!

There are some good points and some not so good . Good , the room was clean , bed was comfortable and air conditioning was excellent. Bad points , severe lack staff , can’t possibly give 4 star service when you are working alone . One barman trying to serve everyone making cocktails, taking bar food orders and expected to clean tables deliver food orders while the queue was 10 deep. It not the staff problem it a management problem not having enough staff on , because it can be done as on the sat there was a wedding and the service that was missing during the week suddenly turned around . Tables were cleared , leaves in pool was removed etc Location - there is a few restaurants and a pub 1km uphill. There is a shop there but not great , like you won’t get arm bands or beach towels there . So you have to factor in taxi trips to El Campello the hotel offer a shuttle for €34 return or €17.50 single way to go to beach , you can also get trams from here to Alicante Benidorm etc . The hotel stated 3 restaurants but one of them ( the one that looked the nicest ) never opened during our stay. Food , breakfast was ok but it goes cold very quickly. Bar food was not great . For eating I would recommend going to eat in golf club or the restaurants 1km up hill . What could be done better - an information book in your room is several languages would have been good . When I arrived I asked about late checkout that was advertised they showed me the prices and I asked could I book it and pay now as I knew checkout was 12 and my flight was not till near 10pm . I was told I couldn’t book it until check out day . On checkout day I went down at 7am and was told I couldn’t have late checkout as my room was booked , when I asked could I book another room and I would pay for the whole night I was told they where fully booked , there was no room offered to shower or change . There was showers in the bathroom at the pool but there was no doors on the showers . Staff that I found good was Victoria on reception and Oscar in the bar . Would I recommend this hotel. If you play golf the golf course is near . If you want to be able to walk to beach or shops etc absolutely no .

We have just returned home. General impressions, I do not recommend. We were 3 days all inclusive. First, the shock was the fee for towels by the pool (if we have all inclusive, there are no additional fees). A young man with a ponytail works at the La Tertula bar. We wanted to order a drink of Ballentines whiskey - we were told that the all inclusive offer only includes the cheapest alcohols (we have been traveling around the world for 20 years and Ballentines is on offer everywhere) and while the drink was being prepared he left and did not return - we waited 30 minutes until someone finally served us. We ordered a pizza, the same man said the waiting time was 15 minutes, we received a cold one after an hour with the statement that we could eat 3 pieces on the all inclusive offer. The next day we ordered a burger, we waited 1 hour because the same man forgot about us. As for us, he is not fit for work. He was nice to those from whom he received tips. In a hotel full of guests, the pool bar was open for 3 hours on Saturday, closed on Sunday and Monday. Ridiculous. The hotel was visited by groups of athletes, communion parties, but when seniors came on Sundays we had to eat in a small restaurant. The selection there was poor, the tourists were dissatisfied and went to eat in the city. How can you treat tourists like that? We paid a lot of money and only used 30%. Unfortunately, I do not recommend the hotel, all inclusive guests are humiliated at every turn. Maybe the hotel should give up this option so as not to exploit tourists.

Stayed in March and sincerely appreciate all the help in organising Hotel rooms and golf for our golf society of 26 people. The rooms, the beds super comfortable with everything you need for a good stay. The whole staff where wonderful and Bonalba Golf a great golf course only a small walk away. Food was excellent with a good variety breakfast before we would head out to play golf in the morning and facilities where all very modern. Uder into Alicante about €25 or the hotel can arrange a transfer for bigger groups. Feedback from all 26 that went on this trip is we will return soon.

Excellent hotel. Our dealings with ALL tve staff were positive. We are British and did not feel at all like we were treated anything less than great. The bar staff were even extremely friendly with our son who was with us. Pool team were excellent and the pool is huge for the amount of people who were using it. The only negative is that the location is a little out the way so if you want to go anywhere more “busy” then you would need transport as there is not much within walking distance… which depending on your own style of holidaying COULD be a positive OR negative. Food was great, plenty of choice. The gym is a bit of a fail but is a basic set to get moving in the morning IF you need it. Would definitely go back there.

The Staff were absolutely unbelievable customer service at its finest.Tea was exceptional in her manner of customer service at the check in desk . I look forward to visiting again soon your bar staff was also very amazing.

Conveniently located hotel, if you’re here for the golf. Very pleasant reception team and the breakfast in the morning is more than adequate. Fairly basic rooms, you can make your own hot beverage with the kettle provided, however you have to plug the kettle in at a different location, as the electrical lead is far too short. Outdoor swimming pool, very nice but isn’t heated. Indoor pool and Spa costs extra to use, unless you pre pay in advance. You also have to book in advance, even to just use the pool! You also have to have a swimming cap, oh yeh always travel with one in my bag and flip flops. If not it’s €10 for the pool and more € for the swimming cap, total rip off. Wanted to just go down for a quick swim, but way too much hassle. This was our 2nd visit and our last.
