Hotel Bonalba Alicante

Traveled to Alicante to play golf and stayed 3 nights at Bonalba. The food was really bad quality and buffet was a bad example of “pub food”. The spa was not a spa but just a pool you had to pay extra for, and other mandatory equipment like a bathing cap and flip-flops. We had some arrogant neighbors living on the same floor who first had a party and then fighting until late in the morning. The whole floor was kept awake whole night and hotel took not responsibility at all. We called reception at least 10 times but no person was sent up to confront the guests. In the end we were thinking of calling Police. Golf course was really good and fun, but don’t stay at this hotel if you have the option.

The place is immaculate. Room was great, if just a little tired in places, no matter. It was clean and comfortable, although it's the first hotel I've ever stayed in were you can't just make a cup of tea or coffee in it. Location wise a bit remote, we were out of season so everything was closed, the pool and the spa, but there is a cluster of restaurants 10 mins walk away that saved the day. Staff were excellent, a big shout out to the bar man. Very friendly.

So it had on the live hotels that this was a wellness hotel and that it is not. The place is a standard hotel that could do with a some refreshing of paint. The breakfast in the morning had a great selection but as for the hot food it was not hot and even cold most mornings. We had dinner most evenings and there was a good selection and it was nice to eat. The bed was very uncomfortable, but the room was quiet adequate for the purpose. The outdoor pool was closed as it off off season but there is an indoor pool but a 10 euro fee is charged even as a guess in the hotel. The hotel is located outside of alicante and will cost about 30 euro by taxi 25 mins or take 2 buses costing 3 euro each and about 1 hr. The is right beside a golf course which looks to be in great condition and well maintained. The nearest beach is located at el Campello. This is about 6km away and is a nice little town with lots of restaurants on the beach front. For a couple of drinks outside the hotel there is a few restaurants and a pub located about 10min walk. Green 19 is a nice spot to have a few drinks and there is food but we didn't eat. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and overall it was a peaceful hotel as the hotel was quiet.

I really wanted to try this place just for a relax. The hotel is lovely and I tried the spa and had a really lovely massage too. Really enjoyed my time and looking forward to going back. By the way just be mindful of tea and coffee - us Brits love tea etc but over there they mainly just have it for breakfast. They do have tea by the bar - but I just went to the local shop and bought some tea bags - I just cannot bear to not have tea 🙈

Lovely swimming pool and main public areas were lovely .Incredibly rude receptionist on check in; yawning and so unfriendly; ruined our stay via first impression.The lady on departure was such a contrast (Maria), so wish we had been met by her.Rather expensive and the receptionist wanted us to give a deposit for the bath plug! Internet connectivity poor.Sadly wouldn't want to stay again.
