Hotel Villa Sonia

High up a mountain with crazy roads. We reserved a lesser room by mistake. The other units with a view looked spectacular! Good breakfast and great pool.

Just returned after a four night stay at Villa Sonia. Most of the reviews really biged villa Sonia up so I was a little bit disappointed with my own experience. First the good, you can’t beat the views . The view of Mount Etna are spectacular The calm on an evening from the balcony and when waking up in the morning is delightful. Staff were attentive at times but to be fair, they should be. Sadly I felt that all in all the hotel was lacking. It did not live up to my expectation of a four star hotel. The breakfast was not good. The quality of the ingredients was poor. Choice was limited and I was peeved to have to pay an extra charge for a fried egg or a decent cup of coffee. This was not a cheap holiday. There was a poolside bar, but the choice was very limited and the staff did not seem too eager to want to serve me, I found the pool a bit cold and the pool side furniture could be better. The rooms were clean but they certainly lacked any four star luxury. Towels were quite basic and bedding a little rough dressing gowns and slippers were not provided. kettle and tea drinking was not provided unless you ask. There where no glasses to drink out of Ithink that this hotel would be bang on as a three star, but I don’t think it was a four. A four star holiday should leave you feeling a little spoilt and indulged and I certainly didn’t.

A lovely hotel a bit of the way up the hill from Taormina. If you are a scaredy cat driver then this is not the place for you. L

Hotel is amazing, so many antiques and curiosity’s to look at. Very much old fashioned style. Stunning views, quiet location. Book an Etna view room as away from the road. Lots of choice for breakfast and the hotel restaurant just up the road, La Caverna is wonderful. From the pool, reception and the restaurant staff I really can’t fault them. This really is a wonderful hotel. A short walk up a hill is Castelmola for beautiful shops bars and lovely for a drink in the evening. Bus stop outside hote 15 mins to Taormina. You can walk down if fit. Great location

Absolutely loved our week at this quirky hotel. Room with an Etna view was great and had a small balcony to sit on. Staff were really nice and could not be falted. We were BB and the choices were plentiful fresh and tasty. Each breakfast we ate well just because we wanted to try a lot of the hot and cold options. The pool area is astounding with its own bar and snacks. The sunbeds and towels are free and the view is awesome. In this area Villa Sonia is a great choice because it's not as manic busy as Taormina. The free shuttle bus is ideal because the steep walk is challenging to say the least. We were really pleased with this choice and think it was absolutely the perfect place. Castelmola village is stunning to wander around with plenty to entertain you during your visit . Highly recommended.

À l’entrée du village Castelmola, très bel emplacement. Vue exceptionnelle sur l’Etna et la montagne. Piscine très agréable. Personnel charmant. Très bon restaurant. Très bon petit déjeuner avec la vue sur l’Etna.
