Hotel Riu Palace Punta Cana - All Inclusive

We had a great time at this property. The staff was wonderful and we enjoyed all of our meals at the buffet, lots of options. We only ate once at the themed restaurants and felt it wasnt worth the wait, so we ate at the buffet the rest of the time and were very pleased. The beach was beautiful and so clean; our family had fun playing in the ocean! The pools were enjoyable and clean as well. We used the spa and enjoyed it as well. We received a large amount of "resort credits" that were not very easy to make use of, so we didn't use any at all which was frustrating. Our room was clean and comfortable, but we had some trouble with outlets working and very little control of the temperate - we were quite chilly overnight. Overall, it was a great experience for a reasonable price.

Happy with Riu again - be aware now that we've been to 3 different Rius that the experience is largely the same at all of them. I've seen the 'Michael Jackson' show at least 3 times now. For I'm sure economic reasons they moved the 'Riu Party' off campus for all 3 (or 4?) Rius in Punta Cana so the sort of family oriented party that we experienced at another Riu didn't occur because it was adults only and only open after 7pm or something. Similarly the water park was sort of off-site from the Riu we were staying at and it was a bit of a walk, but nothing concerning. We enjoyed a day at another one of the Rius and it was pleasant enough - we came back to our Riu and found out that the main pool had been closed most of the day - no communication as to why. Overall we are happy and enjoy going to Riu because it's a very consistent experience for a really reasonable cost and value.

Very unprofessional service. No activities for children at the pool

First impressions of the hotel were good but upon arrival at reception less so. Unfortunately our holiday from the UK coincided with Spring Break for the USA. The hotel encourages large groups of young people to spend their break with them by offering special deals, encouraging them to drink, party and behave in a less than desirable ways. Whilst I am not against young people enjoying themselves the screaming, running around and banging on bedroom doors at 2 or 3 in the morning was totally unacceptable. Having spoken to a member of staff about it I was told that I would just have to accept it.

Staff was great! The only issue was room service is terrible. Food was not quality food. Club sandwich consisted of untoasted bread 1 piece cheese and ham, 2baby tomatoes slices no bigger than a quarter size, and a teaspoon dollop of chicken salad in the middle of the sandwich. It was terrible. Nachos were a plate of round tortilla chips with cold nacho cheese slapped right on top of the chips. Took over an hour to get the food. Other than that the food was pretty good in the buffet and steak house.

The daytime activities staff were overall decent, Beba did a good job of interacting with the guests during pool exercise time, and during yoga time. The beach was nice & clean, little seaweed to speak of, decent beach side drink service, and while we favored the "adult/general" pool over the "Party Pool" or water vollyball pool, between the pools or the ocean, there were pleanty of options to enjoy. In conclusion, I have to say while our vacation started off on a negative note, thanks to the efforts of Alejandra & Joan in particular, they turned around what would have been an overall sour-experience, into a positive one. We went to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel was great and very accommodating, the staff was exceptional, and the entertainment was amazing. We will definitely go back.

This was our second time there, the food wasn’t as good as it was last year, just average. The service was great at the buffet, our favorite waiters were Antonio, Biembo and Ruth! They were always there to greet us and seat us, got our drinks right away!! The Italian restaurant was terrible, I had the cod, it tasted like tuna fish, definitely not cod! My boyfriend had the ravioli, he said they tasted fishy! The Steakhouse was ok, my boyfriend said his steak was fatty! Rooms were cleaned very good everyday. Our first week at the beach was very nice. Our second week sucked, (March 7-14) Tons of Spring Breakers, they completely take over the beach, they are loud and put their chairs practically on top of you!!! I thought this resort didn’t accept huge groups of Spring Breakers, but there was a group of at least 40 kids that sat right in front of us, that was the only thing that really bothered me on this vacation! The beach is very clean, hardly any seaweed. Javier and Brian always made sure we had drinks, they were awesome!

Staff seemed annoyed to help you, food was trash and almost not edible. Only good restaurant was the steakhouse on the beach. We debated door dashing it was that bad. And we aren’t picky eaters at all. The only good food was on excursions. Night life and entertainment could be better. It’s almost like you have to go off the resort which defeats the purpose a little. Would I try a Riu resort again, probably but not this one.
