Cielo Hotel Bishop-Mammoth, an Ascend Collection Hotel

The first room we were given smelled of urine and the floor was wet. We were changed to different room. In this room the heat didn’t work. It was either on at full blast which was unbearable or you had to unplug it turn it off. We unplugged it and had to sleep in our ski jackets to stay warm. Left at the crack of dawn.

My review would be mildly positive or possibly silent if I had experienced this place as the travel lodge that it is, but the rate I paid, by my experience, is more typically associated with nicer~than~a ~ravel ~lodge. Based on the ~$280 I was charged (for a night) I was disappointed. We were on our way to mammoth and got turned around in Crowley due to a fire. Rather than take the long way to mammoth we elected to stay in bishop for the night. This was the first place we found with space. I really hope they didn't raise their rates with the fire situation in the air. In fairness, I have no idea what their normal Thursday night rate would be. I later learned that other hotels were offering free stays for those impacted by the 395 closure. The room was very sparse. A bed, two nightstands, and a dresser. But what was there was clean. It was really loud. Guests coming and going. A maintenance worker was working on lights. We were unable to get on the WiFi with the password on the key sleeve (which wasn't called out at check-in; i.e., the check in person was not doing a single thing besides giving out the key; no instructions about hotel features whatsoever). Nobody answered the front desk telephone when we tried from the room. The television took 45 minutes to figure out as the in room directions were unhelpful. All in all it is exactly what you would expect from a hotel room that you're paid $79 to sleep in, but at $280 for the evening it's a bit insulting. Maybe I'm out of date with Bishop nightly rates as I've never stayed there before.

Definitely better than another Choice Hotel that we stayed at recently. We make this drive from Idaho to California quite often but typically don't stay in Bishop. This was our first time and we had our dog so finding a pet friendly hotel that's decent, is always a challenge. This one checked all the boxes. It's close to the bakery and walking distance to other fast food and eateries. Parking can be tricky if you get there too late. But there were more spaces on the other side that we didn't know about until we walked our dog. There's also a bowling alley nearby. We only stayed for one night and it really was more like a 12- hour stay but it was enough to get rested, fed and our room was comfortable. The breakfast selection was pretty well stocked. It's a grab and go style so we were able to take it on the road with us. I would consider staying here again.

Good location

The property is quaint and accessible to local events and attractions. Centered in the main area of Bishop. The fitness room was excellent, well stocked with treadmill, elliptical, weighted balls, dumbbells mats and benches. Everything for a full workout. Oddly, there was an open window to the parking lot so passersby can observe those inside working out. A little awkward.

No elevator, stairs only. Limited ADA considerations. Very challenging for my elderly mother to get her luggage upstairs. Was not offered a ground floor room. Also, no towel service during our two night stay.

Cleanliness. Facility in top shape.

Did not like their continental breakfast. A full breakfast would make this hotel a must return.

The location and clean sufficient breakfast dining area.

Sticky and noisy doors from numerous remodels through the years. Needed another table in the suite.

We had the most delightful stay here for one night. So clean and inviting, the room was a welcome respite after a long day’s drive. We loved that there were plenty of restaurants within walking distance. I highly recommend it.
