Oakridge Resort Lake Wanaka

Good size self catering accommodation and wonderful staff. We found the room to be well furnished and everything you would expect from a self-catering apartment. There was ample space in the kitchen, dining area, sitting area and separate bedroom, with an ensuite bathroom. Everything was clean and tidy Staff were very pleasant and welcoming. It is a way outside of town (40 minute walk if it is nice) and obviously a car is a key requirement, but this does mean it is quiet.

Facilities look slightly old but it is still very reasonable with the price. The staff are friendly and helpful.

I thought there might be a.microwave and more outlets

Well the good points first. Nice setting and great staff. However….unit not so good. No plug for the bathroom basin or spa bath. Heated towel rail not useable so wet towels in the morning. Lights fittings out so reading on the couch. In the shower when kitchen sink hot water turned shower went cold, could not finish shower. TV in bedroom not usable. Must say management provided partial refund.

I had read some mixed reviews before our stay, however we enjoyed the resort and liked the fact it was a little way out from Wanaka. We stayed in Room 8 - on the first floor with a lovely view. The room was an average size hotel room with a lovely balcony. There are larger self catering apartments available. We were told that the room was not serviced daily, when we checked in day & also told that if we required it to be serviced or needed more towels etc we just needed to ask at reception. We were there for 3 nights & happy to make our own bed. We didn’t use the pool area or the restaurant (closed Sunday & Monday) . We did use the gym facilities - very well equipped training room - machines & free weights. There was also a cardio room, with cross trainer, bikes etc which we didn’t use. Staff really helpful and friendly.

Nice enough resort but please be aware that restaurant and bar shut 2 nights a week and 3 km from town. Also website advertises daily services to rooms but stayed 3 nights and told at reception this has not been the case for over 1 year! This means no fresh towels, rubbish removed or tea/coffee replenished.

This place is highly overrated. Room was 4m square. Yes I measured it. Booked as a couple. Got single beds! Poorly equipped. Glasses dirty. Crockery was mismatched, like it was from the opp shop. No tissues- a basic item really! Three kms out of town. Restaurant was expensive. Wine/ bottle, ridiculous. Won't stay here again!

The good is to have a washer and dryer in your hotel room. The kitchen was nice if you plan to cook and the room and bathroom were clean. The breakfast buffet in the morning was very limited and the food was not not very good. When they state there are 9 pools they mean 1 swimming pool, 1 very cold lap pool and the rest are hot tubs. The big negative is that you cannot walk into the town of Wānaka. You will need to drive or take a taxi there. This is where you want to stay so you can enjoy all the nice restaurants, bike rentals, walks/hikes, shopping, etc. The weight and cardio rooms are pretty good size with nice equipment. Overall it was average but I would prefer to stay near the lake.
