"Beautiful Property"

Beautiful property wholly built with timber. Well maintained and tastefully themed decorated individual rooms. Loved the sound of nature and amenities in the room was thoughtful and personal. Communications by the property was timely and clear for a smooth non face to face checkin.

Great location, lush surroundings. Everything was outstanding ! EXCEPT …. Advertised breakfast was a huge disappointment! French toast ( heated in toaster) Yum ! However, Hard boiled eggs …. were black throughout the yolk ?!?! Yogurt: “ Best by date “ were both out of date by TWO weeks ?!?! Coffee creamer: No exp date, but they were lumpy and curdled!?! HUGE disappointment ( esp as property is in a remote location ) Did email property before this review, but no response .

Aloha Junction Guest House was formerly a B&B, but now considered a non-hosted guest house. The house is a beautiful former plantation house. The guest rooms are themed. Ours a cowboy theme. Really cute & tastefully done. We arrived to a welcome basket of food for our first breakfast. There was a microwave, fridge, kettle & coffeemaker in our room. The kitchen was off limits to guests. But we were welcome to use the living & dining rooms. We did not meet our hosts, but they were available by phone if needed. This guest house is a perfect location if you are visiting Volcanoes National Park. The hosts also provide useful info about local restaurants, etc.

"Very comfortable, well located."

Breakfast was OK. We were three and breakfast was for two, but it all worked out fine. The French toast was nice. Location was excellent, as our main focus was HVNP.

We never saw or heard from the hosts.

"Amazing Rainforest stay"

10.0

Peaceful, tranquil, amazing find at a wonderful price. Guests have access to the main part of the house with a living and dining room, but can choose to stay in their rooms since each has a private entrance. There was a beautiful backyard tropical garden with a few fruit trees and chickens that can be enjoyed sitting on the back wrap around porch. So quiet during the day! At night, enjoy the eery but lovely sound of coqui frogs and gorgeous views of the starry night sky. Be prepared with warm layers and rain gear as it gets cold in the evenings and there's mist or rain nearly every day--it is a rainforest. Also beware the earthquakes! Volcano apparently has them frequently, and they feel kind of like the wind is shaking the house. However they don't last long, and added to the sense of excitement and mystery of the stay. 5 minute drive to Volcanoes national park, 40 minutes to Walmart, Target, and cheap gas in Hilo. Access other areas in about 2 hour drives to the north east coast or west coast. Can't wait to stay again!

"More like cabin camping than a hotel"

4.0

The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. We appreciated the food left in the fridge for us. The porch off of the room was cute and gave a nice quaint view of the property. It was also very convenient to get to volcano national park and the hosts gave a list of places to eat.

Unfortunately the walls were so thin that we could hear every movement from the family staying next door - their conversations, opening and closing doors, etc. and they stayed up much later than we wished to. When the wind blew you could hear it whipping around the house which was unsettling. And woke us up several times a night. We didn’t realize that we would be staying in what was essentially an enclosed porch. There was also a rooster who started up at 4am each morning which made it impossible to get a good nights sleep which is especially frustrating when you are jet lagged and on vacation. The hosts did their best to make the room comfortable but I wouldn’t stay again and was disappointed.

Quiet and set back from the road. Lovely grounds.

Staff was not available to answer questions. Breakfast was bare minimum.
