Hotel Riu Vallarta - All Inclusive

Eating restaurants fabulous, staff wonderful. Entertainment great, cleanliness wonderful,

Booked 8 months ahead and asked for balcony with ocean view and king-sized bed. First night had balcony looking out onto another hotel and parking lot, 2 double beds, talked to check in and was given a room with a balcony, partial ocean view and king-sized bed which was like a trampoline, talked to office and finally got a better bed finally after many different tries. Not a chair to sit on only a small sofa which was difficult to get out of.

The views, and most of the workers were very nice. Additionally, the beach and spa services were excellent. The grounds were maintained well.

Major construction began outside our room the day we arrived and continued daily from 9am–6pm. Hallways were full of dust, workers, and equipment. Dust entered our room and aggravated my asthma. There were no warnings, no signage, and doors had wet paint on the handles that were not cleaned. Clothing was damaged due to unmarked wet paint. Food quality was very poor throughout the stay. Buffet food was largely inedible, and the steakhouse served wilted salad and overcooked meals. Staff responses were dismissive, and management did not take accountability. We also experienced uncomfortable and humiliating treatment at the steakhouse, including selective enforcement of dress code rules. Overall, the experience did not meet basic resort standards and significantly disrupted our vacation.

The all inclusive hotel was amazing, very clean, friendly staff and lots of entertainment! Close to the beach and activities! Went parasailing, boogie boarding, watching the sunset on the ocean

Breakfast choices were great. I especially liked the fruit. The coffee could use some work. I found it changed from day to day. Some days strong, some days weak.

Something needs to be done about the slippery tiles in the pool area. My husband slipped and fell coming out of the pool and I myself slipped several times. The elevators were a bit out of the way. We also didnot like the idea of standing in line for the A La Carte Restaurants. Making a reservation would be so much simpler.

If I could, I would give a 0 star only to the Bellboy. We’re from Quebec Canada, and been traveling regularly to Mexico since 1993. This was our 2nd trip to a Riu in Mexico, last year was at the Riu Palace in Cancun. Other than a bad experience with the bellboy upon leaving the resort, everything and everyone else was really nice, They made you feel welcomed. The resort was impeccably, clean. The room was beautiful, and the wide choice of food was great. The Riu shuttles to and from the airport are supplied by 3rd party transport companies. It was relatively easy to get the transport from the airport to the resort. We had booked our return shuttle in advance, after doing that, our Riu representative, told us our pickup would be on January 28 at 1:00pm. After checking out that day, we went to the lobby at 12:40pm, the Bellboy had told us the shuttle came at 12:25 looking for us, and left. We told the Bellboy our pickup was supposed to be at 1:00pm, he was very rude and did not believe us, and told us rudely “it’s not our problem you came late!” We did not want to miss our flight, so I went right away to talk to the representative that booked us the return shuttle. He verified that there was a mistake on there part, and it was supposed to be at 1:00pm, after a heated phone call with his superior, he came with us to the lobby, his superior was still on the line, and the representative passed the phone to the Bellboy, Seconds later the Bellboy called the taxi to come pick up us, the Bellboy looked furious that we were right, he opened the doors of the taxi to let us in, without any smile or even looking at us in the eyes. I can’t believe a beautiful week had to end with a situation like that.

Seniors room was clean, nice views. Adult children had to switch rooms due to moldy smell and door that didn't lock. Had to argue with front staff but were moved. Cleaning staff were very good. Serving staff in all restaurants were excellent. Entertainment was hit and miss but the evening musicians were excellent. Overall it was a lovely stay.

Pools were good, food choices were good

Elevators were a problem, standing in lines for the A la cartes, evening shows were just okay and were usually too late,location is a little far from everything..
