"Poor experience and very expensive"

4.0

I should have realised when I was asked to pay for my stay before we got to put our bags down what I was in for. Paying for something upfront is never a good sign. We booked 2 deluxe double bedrooms, one for 2 adults and 2 Kids and the other for 2 other members of my family. We chose the bed, breakfast and a dinner option. At €800 for one night this was allot of money but it was a very special birthday so we were happy to pay extra. The first room we were given was lovely, two double beds, refurbished bathroom. We then took the elevator down to the basement to the family room which was not refurbished and looked in desperate need of repair . ( Bear in mind both rooms were the same price) I asked to be moved and finally was given a room on the refurbished part of the hotel. We then moved onto the dinner. My husband steak was lovely but at an additional €14 euro I would expect this. The rest of the food was mediocre at best. The burgers had spots of red meat through them and were pretty tasteless. We did say this to the manager and although they were very apologetic the best they could do was some cocktail vouchers. Then we went to bed !! My family members room was right across from the "plant room" which had fans and machines working ALL NIGHT. She was in room 302 so please please avoid. Needless to say she didn't sleep a wink. When we brought this to the attention of the manager in the morning he admitted this was an issue and they were aware of it. She asked if they could refund some of the €800 euro and we were told no. They did try to say that we could get an upgrade the next time we stayed or they would give us a free afternoon tea but this would have meant spending more money to stay again !! There was no way we were getting any kind of financial refund for a terrible and hugely EXPENSIVE night away. My new rule of thumb is, if I am asked to pay upfront before we stay anywhere there is a reason for this and the hotel should be avoided. If you have nothing to hide and are confident about the quality of your hotel you should be confident that your patrons will pay what's due at the end of their stay.

"It's the staff who make the difference"

10.0

We’ve just returned from a wonderful two-night stay at Killashee Hotel and already can’t wait to go back. We stayed in the Florence Suite in the Manor House and it was absolutely beautiful. The views over the grounds were stunning and made the stay feel really special. The only tiny downside was that one of the posts on the four-poster bed slightly blocked the TV — but honestly, with views like that outside the window, it hardly mattered! The spa was gorgeous and incredibly relaxing, and we really enjoyed spending time walking around the beautiful grounds. The food throughout our stay was lovely and every member of staff we encountered was warm, welcoming and attentive. The highlight of our stay, however, was the exceptional service from Megan in the Oak & Anvil restaurant. She went completely out of her way to make my husband’s evening feel special and her kindness, attentiveness and genuine warmth made a lasting impression on us. Megan is a real credit to the hotel and we hope our thanks are passed on to her. Thank you to everyone at Killashee for such a memorable stay.

"Very Nice Hotel to stay at"

10.0

Came to Ireland to celebrate my husband birthday. This was our third stop of our time in Ireland. It was nice to have a path to walk around with some beautiful scenery. Its to bad the crows took over the one area even though you could walk it but it was noisey. You need to go up a set of stairs on the rooms we rented out but the hotel staff brought them up and down for us. We had dinner at the one restaurant and was hopping to do the Pippin the second night but it was closed. The Pippin is where you had a continental breakfast. It had alot of choices. Out of the hotels we stay at this breakfast was the best. The room had a nice view of the property and the bed was okay. We did end up using the pool and found out that the community also uses it so when we first got there they had swim lessons going on. We ended up using the sauna and steam room.

"Happiness is a stay at Killashee Hotel"

10.0

Although the hotel itself is stunning, what makes this place really special is the wonderful people who staff it. A great welcome at reception, I loved this as I find this really, really important in any hospitality situation. Our bedroom was delightful, large, spotless with a modern en suite. A coffee machine was provided with a selection of coffee including decaffeinated ( which I prefer) A very comfortable bed with crisp bed linen and black out curtains made our nights heavenly As for the food, what can I say except that Killashee chefs are truly extraordinary. Friends had highly recommended an Italian restaurant nearby but after the first dinner in Killashee we decided to cancel the Italian and dine Killashee style. Special mention goes to Killian, our server on the second evening. What s personality! so pleasant and a lovely person, I hope that he will be there again after his travels when we return. We also had the pleasure of meeting the beautiful Marie McFadden , a Donegal native like myself. Also special mention to Alexandre. Our 49th anniversary was marked beautifully when a surprise dessert was presented at our table, just gorgeous, thank you Cannot wait to stay again at the wonderful Killashee Hotel!
