Maldron Hotel Portlaoise

It was certainly an experience staying here. Popped down to the bar for a pint after checking in and clocked a large group of lads who were “well on”. Surprise surprise not long after a fight broke out and Guards called. Handled well by the staff in fairness but not really what you want to be witnessing. Felt sorry for the young family next to me, still they at least got an apology and a round on the house. At breakfast the next morning had to wait my turn at the breakfast buffet while the housekeepers helped themselves first. No issue with staff taking a break but in the main hotel restaurant?!? Oh, and picking food off the buffet with their bare hands. From cleaning toilets to hand picking the best of the fruit salad. I gave that a miss. Won’t be back…

Our rooms were really tidy and very spacious. The bathroom was lovely and we definitely enjoyed our stay. The restaurants food was devine and service was amazing. We watched the match in the bar and bartenders Jamie and Josh really enhanced the experience making it more enjoyable.

Ok for a drop-in work trip. Rooms were great and warm. Hotel staff very helpful.

Room was great, but dinner despite the food being good, the serving staff were more engaged with each other than the customers. Felt more like a school canteen

Was very easy to get to, rooms clean , staff very friendly, breakfast and dinner could have been hotter, other than that it was fine
