Summer Place Hotel

Whether you are at the beach for a getaway or here on business and just want a no-frills hotel just to lay your head at the end of the night, this is the place. I come to town a lot for business, and I spend my days visiting clients. At the end of the day I just want a place to sleep. I don't need a bar (there are plenty within walking distance), a pool (the ocean is a block away), or other amenities that would be needed where I travel elsewhere. If you're looking for the same - a place to just sleep at a decent price - look nowhere else. The price is seriously half of what the cheapest hotels charge, but don't expect a hair dryer, iron, free breakfast, coffee in the lobby or anything else. As I stated above, this is a place with zero frills. However, even though the price may suggest, this is not a cheap roach-infested motel or a place that's been run down to bare bones minimum by a family from India. It's VERY clean! It's not super modern, but it is adequate. The owner is very friendly, compassionate, and accommodating - everything you would expect from a front desk person but much more personable. He's an everyday beach guy so don't expect someone to come out with a suit and tie. This isn't the Hilton and not intended to be. It is the best place to stay in town for the money.

Depressing room sultry staff.

Pretty rustic , could use a real upgrade.

We made the best of it....but that place was even worse than like a motel 6. The bed which was an oddly small size...like smaller than a twin for sure, had been previously nailed to the wall, well, the nails had since come lose and were just sticking out of the top of the bed... There were two lamps in between the tiny odd bed and double bed (which per the pictures and description on the website showed two rooms and literally said ...TWO ROOMS, hence why we paid almost $600 for only two nights) that were nailed to the wall, one lamp was completely falling apart and therefore did not work, the other was extremely bright. The smallest tv I have ever seen in a "motel" was nailed in the most perplexing place to where, if you were laying in the tiny odd bed...you wouldn't even be able to see the screen. the cords were just hanging everywhere. There was a futon where my two children slept, myself and my fiance slept in the double bed and our friend sean slept in the tiny odd bed. Mind you...this was the SMALLEST "motel" room I've ever stayed in. Luckily we kept busy, specifically to avoid our accomidations. When we first arrived the key was in some mailbox outfront in an envelope that had barely legible hand written directions on where to park and when...parking was a whole (terrible) thing. When we walked in the room, it was so hot because the AC wasn't plugged in, the mini fridge wasn't plugged in, the microwave wasn't plugged in....weird.... My, now 12 year old son, (it was his birthday weekend ) walked into the room and burst into tears. He was so upset. I tried to calm him down and explain we're just going to have to make the best of it. I wanted to cry for the amount of money my fiance and I paid for one of the crappiest places I've ever stayed.

just explained in my last answer but i'll continue here...because there is more!! They had a DIY paper sign on the front door of the "motel" office that stated, "7$ HOT SHOWERS!" and yes, the dollar sign was after the 7...and I'm sorry...what??? Then the first moring after arriving the night before, on the hand written note on the envelpoe that had our legit key in it, said someone (we are on VACATION MIND YOU) has to wake up at 8am and come down to the front office to get a parking pass so we wouldn't get towed. I volunteered, I went down, the lady "working" in the office appeared frazzled but she was nice unlike the gentemen that worked their. I had to sign a document that said I had to return this parking pass or else, they would charge me $350 dollars!!! I left with the pass, finally, and drove...quite a ways until I reached the allowed parking space. -5 out of 5 stars

Loved the location, walk to everything!

The room was so old, hard time getting air conditioner to work but management was helpful, refrigerator did not work at all or TV plus no remote control in room. We were not there to stay in room so all worked out.

The location is perfect.

Nothing! If you want a no frills room to sleep and shower then this is the spot.

I was expecting a no-frills experience but not the level of simple neglect that made this place so dreary (and unhealthy). It takes no money and little effort to clean the window AC filters so mold isn't blown into the room, or sweep away dead leaves and cob webs near the ice machine, or put away the trash cans, metal bed frame and box spring that were blocking the entrance to the first floor apartments all weekend. Also, the moldy AC units triggered my asthma, so we left early and stayed with friends. Great location and very affordable but I'd think twice or three times before booking here again without inspecting if management has taken action to do basic maintenance.
