I would like to write a review of our stay. We love TUI and always book with them but long haul in summer. We have not been in Europe on holidays for a long time. We booked AP Adriana beach resort as last minute deal for half term. We travelled as family of 4 –(2 adults and 2 kids 10&13). We paid just under £3k for 7 nights of all inclusive.
Location / beach / entertainment:
About 50minutes from Faro airport and about 30 minutes from Albufeira.
Peaceful, not crowded, beautiful resort with lovely gardens. We were in D213 and D214 - top of the villa. We had 2 very spacious rooms with balconies and were able to lock the whole floor whilst having everyone together. The location was great – very close to the main area, restaurant, entertainment and pools. The resort is big and the other side of resort also has own pool, restaurant.
Great facilities to play bowls, volleyball, table tennis, tennis, golf, darts etc. The entertainment is great, we enjoyed aqua fitness, salsa dance, my son played football. You need €20 to borrow table tennis bat and ball. You can also hire what you need for golf and tennis, usually for two or three hours per $20 deposit.
Alsi, you need €10 deposit per beach towel. Bring cash 😊
The evening entertainment was great, there was always something going on – live music, competition in the theatre (my son won bottle of bubbly and sweets), Portuguese night, Elvis Presley etc.. The night entertainment is by hotel animators who are so talented! Great dancing, street dance, ballet and really entertaining shows.
This was their very busy week (Half term and also Down’s syndrome competition in Albufeira so many from around the worlds were staying here) but it did not feel crowded!
The beach is only a few minutes away (lovely walk through the garden, passing the sport facilities and also you can see a circuit trail on your way – good fun!) – you need your room swipe card to get through the gate. The beach is unreal (I am a huge beach lover and love great locations) – stretches of sandy beach, as the location is not crowded, you do not see crowds of people or hotel after hotel and that is what makes this location so special. People enjoyed hiking on the cliffs as well. There are steps going down, you can use sunloungers on the beach. Bring a Stanley as there are no facilities to get a drink.
We went to the sea every day, there are some fab waves and we swam a lot, we also swam in the pool. Little chilly to get in but still very enjoyable. We even got a tan. All in all, the pool and beach are fab. The beach is beautiful, you can walk from miles and do not forget to look for shells! We did 😊
Very friendly staff here! They smile a lot and nothing is an issue. Our rooms cleaned daily, towels changed daily and in general, kept it tidy. You get 2 large bottles of water when you arrive. You can refill and get drinks everywhere so no problem and also better for environment not to provide more bottles of water.
We used hotel transport (two euros return per person) to Albufeira for a day. Hotel also provided packed lunch (important when travelling when kids, just ask at the reception). It was great as we left at 9.30am and returned after 5pm. Lots to do in Albufeira – shopping, restaurants, time on the beach, walking up the cliff, seeing the marina…..we loved it but it is busy and also full of Irish bars, cheap places to eat etc which can be good but also may become loud and too busy. I also came to Portugal to eat local food so no steak pie or friend English for me 😊
Food:
We were not expecting such great selection of food! We love good food when on holiday and we really enjoyed food here. We ate once at al carte (the grill) and rest of the meals were in the buffet. Breakfast – great spread, always starting with glass or two of mimosa, smoked salmon, selection of cheeses and meat, fresh fruit, yoghurts, fresh bakery, fried breakfast etc etc. Great churros and pancakes.
Lunch - great selection of fresh salads, olives, cheeses, meats, fruit, cooked meals, seafood, pasta, pizza from the oven, nice desserts, selection of fruits – local oranges and lemons!
Dinner – again, great selection, so fresh, seafood, meats etc.. So so much to eat here – great vegetarian options too!
Food in between – snack bar before lunch and before dinner. Always something to eat and drink.
Good cocktails – I enjoyed sangrias, gin and tonic, Bailey’s. Good selection of mocktails for kids.
If you want nice holiday, make memories, whilst enjoying great location, beach, quality food and entertainment, then this is a place to book. I would love to come back!! I was looking at visiting in the summer but sadly the cost for 2 weeks is too high!
Much recommended, Portugal is beautiful and the food is gorgeous. We are back in rainy UK, tanned and full of nice memories! We will return here!!!!
