Pacific Grove Inn

Room was very clean and charming.

The room was nice and we were in a great location. The place was filled with men visiting for car week, but most of the time they weren’t revving their cars and being obnoxious. Other than that, the place was quiet and nice. Although the manager told me they had no ice bucket or glasses, when we arrived, we discovered there were both. It was convenient for us to get more coffee and ice.

Great location and easy parking with walkable options for dining. So much to do! The only negative was there was no fan or air conditioning, so the room was stuffy at night.

What a great stay! We have already made reservations to come back for a future visit. The inn is a historic home originally built in 1904 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We were quite blown away by all the pluses of staying at The Charles …… the biggest plus is the extremely reasonable price of staying here. A charming house with clean rooms and comfortable beds - our room even had a fireplace. The Charles has done a wonderful job of giving the interior a cozy, homey feel reflected in that era furnishings. The Charles provides an elevated continental breakfast which is just amazing. My favorites were the fresh baked croissants, avacado toast, smoked salmon, fresh mixed fruit, and even cappuccino, espresso, cafe lattes - just amazing!There is also an afternoon wine and cheese with prepared meats which I found out is called ‘charcuterie spread’. In the evening home baked cookies and what I believe is a port is out for guests. Ian, the manager, was very friendly, eager to be helpful with restaurant suggestions and provided us with interesting information and history about the Inn.

Parking slots in parking area are too small. They need to be a little bigger.

Parking was difficult, the slots were very narrow and difficult to manuver. Check in was terrible. After getting an email that I could check in early at 3:00 there was no one on the premises to let me in. Instead I was given a number to call that connected me to someone in India who I could not understand. I was asked for my credit card number and when I questioned it I was told without it I could not gain entrance. I reluctently gave the number all the while thinking it was a very peculiar request. And certainly not welcoming!!

Our time at the Pacific Grove Inn was a celebration! We felt spoiled with great food, great wine, and even better accommodations. Our hosts made us feel cared for and were proactive to enhance our experience. We walked along the coast and enjoyed incredibly convenient restaurants. We even walked just a quick mile to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row! The breakfast in the mornings were healthy and delicious and prepared us for great days. I would recommend this place to anyone, including even the pickiest of people!
