American Guest House, a Washington DC Bed and Breakfast

Free wi-fi , free breakfast, free boarding pass printout, honor system for snacks... who does that? They have professionals working there who care about the comfort of their visitors. The breakfasts were ready when we were and made how we wanted it. I would stay there every time I was in town. No exceptions.

I love historic buildings, so creaky stairs don't bother me. And, as I got my exercise heading up to my fourth floor room during my six-day stay, the stairs did creak. The room was clean and the bathroom was modern. The staff were extremely helpful, and the morning breakfasts were varied and all healthy and tasty. The diverse folks who shared my stay there made breakfast conversation at a table that seats 10 very interesting. I would strongly recommend this for a night or week.

Great room and beautiful house. Convenient location and great breakfast

My husband and I had a rare night away from the kids and chose this guest house in a quiet residential area between lively Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan neighborhood. We were able to easily walk to a variety of restaurants for dinner, drinks, and dessert. The breakfast was a fluffy omelet made to order when we sat down at the common dining room table. Yogurt, fruit, and toast were also available with juice, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. Our room was in the back of the building and was very quiet and comfortable. We will definitely return!

Great place, quiet and clean. Close to a lot of shops and restaurants. I love history and this place has character. The staff is kind and helpful.

Everything about the American Guest House is fantastic. Instead of the hustle and bustle of a big city hotel, you get a beautiful, quiet old townhouse on a side street. Friendly staff. Easy check-in/check-out. Lots of character. Simply marvelous from beginning to end.

Excellent Place to Stay. Food very good. Staff friendly. Had to open window slightly to let some heat out during my winter stay. I'll go back for sure if in the area again.

Service on arrival was terrible. No one greeted or showed the space. In-keeper was on the phone. I was asked to come back to complete check in ... again the In-keeper was on the phone. I was asked to come back a third time and was finally able to complete check in but still not welcomed or shown the facilities. Property is cute and my room was very clean.
