Howard Johnson by Wyndham New Braunfels

The place needs to be remodeled. Seemed a little pricey for the dated rooms.

Property was run down on the outside. Inside has new paint and carpet but several things in our room were in need of repair. First of all the toilet was not set right and was unlabeled. The light/dehumidifier in the bathroom was extremely loud and looked like it was about to fall down. The faucet in the tub had about an inch of space from the caulking. The AC in the room only worked on auto no matter what setting you chose and was quite loud.

This is a good location with plenty of self parking. You can drive easily to Gruene and to the Guadalupe River tube float areas within 10mins. There is a steakhouse located right bedside the hotel. Multiple restaurants, gas stations and convenient stores are nearby. The staff was friendly, clean big rooms and quiet. We enjoyed are stay here.

The entry had a very strong musty smell but the room was fine so long as the AC was on. We were comfortable.

It was about what I expected for the price. Needs a remodel. Shower bar loose, tub didn’t drain. Overall aged facility. The bed was very comfortable though.

The soundproof rooms at this hotel are a godsend for light sleepers like me. I had the best rest I've had in ages! Plus, having a microwave in the room meant I could enjoy my favorite snacks anytime.

The stay was ok the first day and bad the second. 2nd day, I found 3 live roaches roaming around my room. The place needs a deep clean on the carpet and overall, some minor details of the room need upgrade. Lots of metal in the room was rusted.

Hotel.com ruined this trip. Booked AND PAID in MARCH 2024 with exception of a ~$7 fee to be paid in person upon check in. Drive SIX HOURS and arrive around 7pm only for the hotel to let me know that they’re unable to secure payment from hotels.com and I would need to pay the entire cost and have hotels.com refund me… So I was able to cancel on hotels.com and get a refund. Go back to the counter to book in-person, and the clerk says the cost would be DOUBLE my original booking regardless of when I booked it. And wouldn’t alter the cost. Nothing else reputable was available in New Braunfels. So we had to stay in Selma, and still paid almost double. Also adding this isn’t the first time this has happened with a booking.

They put us in a room that smelled like mold. The shower had a hole in the ceiling with a piece of tile almost covering it. When the people above is took a shower we had a waterfall in our tub. Also found out they went anhead and booked another person in the room.Also the coffee maker had white dust in it. We complained and they moved us across the hall. That room was nice but again the coffee maker didn’t work! The male staff were rude and stared at us. Not pleasant at all. I will never stay there again !
