Ascott Gurney Penang

The room was very comfortable; air con, bed, 2 Tvs so that both my kids can have their own shows. Fantastic sea views. Oh yes and the water filtration system that is really helpful without the usage of plastic water bottles. Swimming pool for kids and adults were huge, so a lot room to swim around.

Everything was great except for the breakfast. Previously I had stayed twice at Marriott just a few blocks down, and their buffet breakfast though not huge, but were of fantastic quality. The food quality is superb at Marriott, but over here at Ascott it is rather disappointing. The taste, variety, even the presentation of food is rather dull. 4 days of breakfast at Marriott, and I don't get sick of it. But just 3 days of Ascott breakfast; was quite a dread. Hope they can improve much more.

Our stay was fantastic at Ascott Gurney Penang. The breakfast was very good and changing the variety each day. The pool is amazing and also the gym has many possibilities for exercises. We enjoyed it a lot.

There is nothing we didn't like

Spacious room, kids pool.

when we try to check in at 3 pm (which is the check in time stated by the hotel), we were informed that the room is not available. the staff kept telling us to wait 20 to 30 more minutes while not being able to confirm at what time the room will be ready. The room was finally ready at 4.30 pm, which is 1.5 hours later than the stated check-in time. At this price we are paying, this is not acceptable.
