The owner was very nice. She showed me around to make sure i knew where to go. The walls in my room were so thin i could my neighbor breathe. The room was super small. The bathroom was tiny. No TV service. Breakfast was good(scrambled eggs) but options were exremely limited. It was a good price so I guess it was ok. I wouk Ld not stay again though since the walls were so thin

This is an old facility. We read that it was being remodeled but it wasn't. Two safety issues. Very strong odor of cleaning products. We could not open the window to air out the room because it was heated by a space heater that was vented to the outside via the window. There were hairs on the bedspread. The bathroom sink was so small, and under the protruding mirror, so that we couldn't even spit out our toothpaste without it dripping on the floor. The plaster on the walls was chipped in several places. We left a day early because we are two medical professionals who worried about the safety of the facility.

The hotel is entirely habitable, really, it's fine. The proprietors have worked really hard, you can tell. But if you need the cookie-cutter amenities of a chain hotel, head to Alamosa. This building is old. The rooms are small. The heating, TV and bathroom situations are not amazing. Breakfast is present, but not amazing. But, its a clean, safe stay in a really interesting historic building.

"Historic Charm"

10.0

This is our favorite close getaway. Makes us feel like we are on a mini vacation even though we are just 45 minutes away. We love the historic charm and the great hospitality by the husband and wife team. Love their breakfast goodies and beverages they provided directly to our room. We will always return. They feel like an extended part of our family - Many blessings

The Monte Villa Hotel is like a grand hotel that has seen better days. It is reasonably clean but smells tired or "old." The public areas have beautiful antique furnishings. There is an elevator with a birdcage door that requires someone to slide it open behind a hinged door. The birdcage door requires strength to pull open, but it also requires help to hold it open while pushing the hinged door open. The restaurant and bar are presently closed but beautifully decorated with a combination of antique and modern furnishings. The hotel hostess was friendly and informative. She also gave us good service, as well as bottled water, orange juice, and breakfast croissants for the next morning. There was no clock in the actual room. The bathroom did not have a counter, but the remnants of a former full bathroom still lined the bathroom's walls. Our bed was a very comfortable king-size bed.
