Price was right for a solo rider and the location was great, I found the lady working there to be friendly and while there might be some permanent residents it was quite and I had a good night sleep. I would stay there if on my way

We stayed here on our way to the Outer Banks for a family vacation. It was a nice place to stay overnight. The lady at the office was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place for someone who is looking for a place to sleep overnight that isn't a chain hotel.

The Royal Inn Motel was clearly easy on the budget, and it was perfect for the situation. I was taking my son out on a special weekend, and we didn't need an overpriced place to sleep! Maybe things have changed since some of the other reviews, but I found fresh carpet and new mattresses and more than enough room for the two of us to be comfortable. The owners were easy to work with, and overall this was a blessing for a very special time with my son. Both the Sheetz gas station and Exxon gas station were brand new, and they had MUCH better prices than the stations closer to the highway (even though this was only 4 minutes away from the interstate). Give the Royal Inn a second glance . . .

I wanted to give another mom-n-pop motel a chance - disappointed again. Accommodations were worn and dated. The bathroom in our initial room had large, and very obvious, areas of mold on fixtures, and the toilet ran continuously; after fixing the toilet, we discovered it leaked where the commodes contacts the tile floor. The staff was friendly, and accommodating, and attempted rapid repairs, and relocated another room. That second room, though less moldy, had large dust bunnies anywhere the eyes could not easily see (and even in some obvious areas); the broken glass in the widow pane was held together with packaging tape. The last straw was the large clumps of hair in the drain - we will make allowances for many things, but there is NEVER a time when UNCLEAN is acceptable. Even with 8 hours of driving behind us that day, we checked out, and left in search of a different place to rest.

Very nice personnel at check in. Mattress isn't the best and the decor is awful. But the hotel has a horror movie charm with the wall shower and sink without cabinets...which to me made it fun to stay in. Inexpensive and clean overall. Sheets gas station next door is great and only 30 minutes from Charlottesville.
