Tholos Resort

The view from the resort was unbelievable and we had a fantastic stay. The staff were very friendly and the breakfasts were great on your own balcony

Before our stay at Tholos had even started we were met with incredible service. Previous to our stay I had emailed to organise the hotel's shuttle service to collect us from the Port. The van was waiting to collect us and we were whisked away to the hotel. The hotel is in a perfect location with picturesque views of the Caldera (yes there are many stairs but that's the nature of Santorini). Our bags were carried from the top of the stairs right down to the hotel. Margarita in reception greeted us on arrival and took us to our room. She explained everything to us in great detail. She also helped us significantly with our room as we had booked through Expedia the superior room but were given the standard room on arrival . This issue was fixed in a timely manner between the hotel and Expedia and we were eventually refunded the difference in price. The pool and bar were amazing, with the bartender providing us with welcome shots of ouzo. Breakfast was fresh and tasty and delivered to our balcony every morning (at our chosen time interval). We found no issue of walking distance to minimarts and the bus stop to take us to Thira and Oia. We had absolutely no issues with our stay at Tholos and would highly recommend the hotel.

Incredible, the best view of my life

The staff was fantastic and willing to help us with anything that we needed. They even called in a delivery food order for us. The receptionist would set up our ATV rentals and the daily cruise we took to tour the island. The hotel does have over 120 steps that we had to walk every day to get to the entrance so that was quit tough. Would not suggest for an elderly couple that has a hard time with steps. Loved everything else about the hotel and service.

The resort is situated in a perfect location to see the sunset. I have not seen the other units, but for the price that we paid for the room (honeymoon suite), it should be better furnished - kitchenette (plates and glass difficult to wash in the sink) is not complete as there is no detergent, or cloths to dry with. Kitchenette is small. The bathtub is large, and towels are well furnished. The beds are very comfortable and clean. The room is spacious. The food quality for breakfast is fantastic - plenty of food and very fresh. I would stay here again, but at a lower price.

hotel is far from road down the hill.and it's not a 4 star not even 2.if you wand breakfast you must tell the people from night before.inside room are steps paint all white like the rest of room and it's hard to see very dangerous.

Positives: The area and views are beautiful The staff was nice when we approached them for things and tried to be accommodating Negatives: We were brought to our room and the staff did not tell us anything...dropped our bags off and left. Given the place has multiple resorts in one small area we had to ask around to find reception. Even once we spoke with reception they offered no suggestions or simple directions on the resort. Could not fax documents, etc. We weren't sure if room service was available, etc. When directly asked for something (I must have called them or visited reception 6x's) they were helpful, but from the onset no structure. Internet in the room kept on cutting out. Got better reception outside by the pool than the room. Overall- it was the very start of the season and it showed as the process was disjointed. Hoping during high season they are more structured and organized as they were nice.

I will tell everyone I know to go to this hotel. Everything about it is spectacular. The location is the best--less busy than either Fira or Aio with a million dollar view. The staff couldn't have been better. There were porters readily available to carry our luggage. There are an extreme number of stairs so if you have trouble walking this is not the place for you. We arrived on the ferry and I arranged in advance with the hotel to be picked up--I would strongly recommend you do this (the only reason I thought of it was from reading someone else's review). It made getting there very easy and inexpensive. We originally booked the hotel for 2 nights...but it was so outstanding we changed our plans and stayed an extra night. I can't say enough positive about every aspect of this hotel.

Staff was very cooperative and helpful. We were there at a slow time of year (1st week of October) and the weather was cool, breezy, and required a jacket at various times. My rationale for giving the facilities just a 3, was based upon several factors, none of which would prevent me from staying there again. We were in room 102, which looked out, un-obstructive to the crater, as promised. The view was great. However, simple improvements would be to add a shelve to the closet/cabinet. There was insufficient shelf space for 2 people to put clothes out of site. Adding 1 or 2 shelves would have helped greatly. There was no shelves in the bathroom. Adding several coat/towel/shirt/pant hooks in the bedroom, bathroom, and living area would be a simple and inexpensive solution to get clothes out of site. Lighting was rather dim and the living area could use a chair. Morning coffee was a problem as the coffee cups were not replaced use. Consequently, it wasn't possible to make hot coffee or tea until breakfast was served much later.
