I have been staying at this hotel regularly for the past 4 years. Approxiately18-24 months ago, the staff, service and breakfast buffet quality level has dropped dramatically. I do not think corporate is in this hotel for the long run.
Probably the worst food in Kempinski worldwide. The Seasons restaurant is an embarrassment to the franchise. Nothing tastes fresh. Only exception is the great coffee. The business lounge has terrible coffee and the selection is very limited. Hours are also very limited. They should visit SZ Ritz Carlton to see how a proper business lounge is run. Kempinski also has a Chinese restaurant on the 4th floor which had mediocre food, expensive prices and no english speaking staff.

After reserving a non-smoking room I received a room that smelled of smoke and had an ashtray. Management insisted that it was a non-smoking room and sent up a cleaner with deodorizer. After explaining that this solution was unacceptable they changed my room to a true non-smoking room. This hotel used to be nice, new and fairly well run. Its now dirty, run down and poorly run.
I often stay at the Kempinski Shenzhen mainly for the convenience of access to the Hong Kong airport. The hotel has a shuttle pickup each morning for the HK airport. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are relatively clean although the carpets are several years old and getting a bit stained. The rooms could stand to be freshened up with new carpet.
Arrived in evening for tomorrow meeting. Hotel is kind of old, not as good as other Kempinski in China, and breakfast is bellow standard. Very normal room.

Hotel closed to mall and MRT which one could take after crossing border with Hong Kong. Nice hotel with comfortable room. Amenities are abundant. Staff may not be too comfortable speaking English. Area is safe and nice.
The cleanliness and the hotel is excellent. The hotel is great, but the communication of the staff is really weak. Every conversation with them is really painful. In case of billing issues or any problem , its so difficult to communicate with them.
We read previous reviews before booking this hotel, and many were negative, but we decided to take the risk. We were thus pleasantly surprised - the hotel is quite modern, the rooms have a great view (right out over Shentzen bay, with 180 degree view of the colorful night lights). The hotel is right next to a shopping mall/outdoor plaza with restaurants. We thus spent some time sitting outside at one of the bars in the plaza. The whole area seemed very clean, and with plenty of selection of restarants. We did not try the hotel restaurant (lots of cheaper placed nearby, and we wanted to sample the local cuisine anyway). Overall I would recommend this hotel.
