Kempinski Hotel Shenzhen China

The hotel was good but not worth how much it costs. Breakfast has a wide variety of food but nothing taste particularly good.

spent 4 nights at this property and while it was good, I expected more form Kempinski. I have stayed before at the Kempinski Palace Instanbul,which is a mucj better property.

I travel to Shenzhen monthly and I decided to pick the Kempinski for a change. It was a fantastic choice! So close to a variety of resturaunt and shops and its very modern and clean. Service is good too!

Close to transit and a huge shopping mall. Hotel seems dark and hotel staff speak poor English. As long as interactions are less you will be fine. Getting a better room with executive room and services access is really worth the extra cost. The executive staff speak a lot better english and really take good care of customers.

When I check in for 2 persons, I was told that I have only 1 free breakfast for our room. I can accept Hotel room that don't include breakfast at all but isn't it strange to include only 1 breakfast for a room that is reserved for 2 people? If they are cutting cost and think that offering 2 breakfast is too much for them, can't they just make a discount offer simply named "buy one get one free promotion" for breakfast during booking. I've stayed in this hotel 2 years ago and though i don't like the aesthetic of the interior design, I found it up to the standard of a normal Kempinski and a 5-star hotel. However, after 2 years, the carpet and some furniture has worn out and cleaningness of the whole room is in doubt. The restaurant for breakfast is noisy and crowded with uncle and aunties from unknown area (obviously not big cities) of China who join tours.

The Kempinski is one of my favorite places to stay in Shenzhen. The property is grand and elegant, and the staff are extremely courteous. It is located in Nanshan, near the "R&D" center of Shenzhen. The rooms are spacious and have vaulted ceilings, adding to the feeling of grandeur. They stock the room daily with fresh fruits and bottled water. The buffet breakfast offers omlettes made to order, and a good selection of hot and cold dishes, fruits, and breads. It is located right next to the Houhai MTR stop, providing easy access to the rest of the city. I usually jog on business trips, and there is a pretty easy 2 mile jog from Kempinski to a walk/bike path which runs along the shores of Shenzhen Bay. The hotel is also connected to "Coastal City", if you are in to shopping, and there is a Carrefour supermarket a block away if you want to get some snacks and knick-knacks (or if you need to buy some socks because you forgot to pack them for some reason).

Stayed there based on decent reviews from Expedia, and proximity to the local manufactures I needed to visit. Requested a non-smoking room, however room and hallway smelled of cigarettes, they were accommodating willing to switch us to a new room, needed to leave to meet someone so just stayed. Carpets in the hallways need to be replaced as well as in room ( kept my socks on). Shower had lots of mildew and bathroom smelled of mold. Furniture was all beat up with scratches and nicks on just about every piece of wood in the room. Hotel might of been 4-5 stars a decade ago, now on the same level as a Ho-Jo's. After three days the wife made us switch to the JW Marriott in Futian, with free food and drinks on the top floor more than worth the extra cost.
