Silkari Lagoons Port Douglas

The team at Silkara Lagoons were very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and welcoming after a day out travelling. Six pools to choose from and the grounds are beautifully maintained.

We really enjoyed our stay in a 2br swim out apartment. Having the pool at our doorstep was fantastic. The room did have a musty, mouldy smell and there was quite a lot of mould, however it is to be expected to some degree in an older property in the tropics. It could definitely do with a bit of TLC, but it was fine for what we needed. Having access to the Ramada next door for meals was great, as it's a bit of a trek into town. Our apartment was really quiet and comfortable.

Nice enough place! Pools could do with a clean. The room was great, although the microwave didn't work, and the toilet roll holder fell off. We were given a heads up that the dishwasher was not working, but on check-in we agreed they would be able to enter the room and replace it the next day. This didn't happen, even though we could see the new dishwasher sitting in the lobby. Staff were not willing to help settle issues with the onsite spa facility. Otherwise, good value for money, really nice rooms, but could do with some TLC.

There were positives. The gentleman on arrival was excellent. Friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The swim-out pool was a standout for our kids. Parking close to the unit made things easy. However, overall comfort was not there. I booked a 2-bedroom apartment with a king bed and a double bed. On arrival, the configuration had been changed to two single beds and one double. While intended to suit children, this left my husband and I in a small double bed that we barely fit in. This should not be changed without approval. The living space also did not work for a family of four. One small couch meant we could not all sit together to relax and watch TV. The condition and upkeep need attention: Strong mould smell on entry to the building Air conditioners running constantly, which suggests this is an ongoing issue Washing machine and dryer outdated, the dryer door fell off during use No vacuum provided, only an old broom and dustpan that were ineffective No bath mat, resulting in water through the unit when coming in from the pool Lights flickering Furniture inconsistent, some newer pieces, others well past their use Drawers too shallow to store clothes properly Found a used band-aid in a cupboard, which is not acceptable Soundproofing between units is good overall. However, noise from above travels when furniture is moved or when guests are loud. Basic supplies were lacking: Two rolls of toilet paper for four people over seven nights No dishwasher tablets or powder provided Laundry powder and dishwashing liquid supplied, but no dish cloth, only a tea towel These are simple, low-cost fixes that would improve the stay. The bedding was acceptable, though using entry-level brands does not match expectations for comfort. I understand you get what you pay for. That said, cleanliness, maintenance, and basic comfort should not be compromised. With some updates and attention to detail, this property could deliver a far better experience. I hope this feedback leads to improvements.

Rooms are a liitle dated and tired looking. Bathroom had mould issues.
