"Aged house in Cabbagetown, Toronto. "

6.0

Kind owner and his helpers. I think house dated from late 1800's, extensive and varied decor included items from about 1900, maybe before. Our room was very clean but bedding had clearly seen better days and the shower/tub were pretty useless. Our street on the low end of "mixed neighbourhood" but some wonderful brownstone houses nearby.

"Ripped off!"

2.0

I paid in full in advance. When I arrived the door was locked, the buzzer was not answered. I have no mobile so had to walk to a shop 2 blocks away to telephone. Pimblett answered and told me he didn't think I was coming. So he had let the room again. No mention of my payment (and I didn't recall that I had paid until I eventually found a room elsewhere). But he said he didn't like my tone and hung up on me. Not a hint of remorse or any offer of help. This was about my worst hotel experience ever. And I have been round the world seventeen times!

"Centrally located friendly B&B"

8.0

Breakfast is great (eggs, sausage, pancakes, potatoes, toast) but served 9-11 am. Our room is warm in summer, there is a baseboard heater for winter. Lots of old books in house, if you have allergies be aware. Good value overall.

"Nice B & B in downtown Toronto"

10.0

Like stepping back in time - an Aladin's Cave of curios and antiques which give it such charm. When I found Pimbletts B & B on the internet my wife and I had to book it to see if it really was so quirky and full of character - we were not disappointed. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but we really liked it as did the other very friendly guests we met there over excellent breakfasts made by a very cheerful chef named John. Geoffrey, the owner, has been in Canada since 1972 and has amassed an incredible collection of curios and antiques - you have got to see to believe! We had a great stay at Pimbletts and whenever we get to go to Toronto again we will definitely stay there again.

"It depend on your expectations"

6.0

I enjoy staying at B&B s even on business trips. I like to encourage these types of inn keepers as much as I can. Therefore I don't offer the review based on a hotel which I expect more from. The Pimblett is an experience in itself. I did enjoy the fact that it was quirky with this old english style. I do think that you have to be aware of a few things though. The place in run down, peeling wall paper, dusty, smell of old books, old lamps, missing handles on the furniture, the front door only closes with the key. I felt I was in a house turned into a antiques flee market store. I expected to see price tags on the items. Safety wise I did take a look at the evacuation diagram, the exits, smoke detectors, just in case...This place is not for the insecure. I did not realize breakfast began at nine. I was already at work by that time. Wish I could of had a muffin to go though. Also, I wanted to drink some water in the evening, there are no glasses in the room or bathroom. On a positive note, the wi-fi worked well, the bathroom and bed sheets were clean. The bed was comfortable. I did sleep well. The dog is friendly BTW. Improvements? Renovate the place, remove the clutter, get a new sign with the address number. Review the price.

"A Good Bet for The Curious & The Flexible"

8.0

Pimblett's has low curb appeal. It's a bit run-down on the outside, on a scruffy street in a transitional neighborhood. The first impression on entering is the sheer volume of STUFF in the house -- sort of like staying in an antique shop. But this lends it a certain Victorian charm -- it's a one-of-a-kind experience. If you want the uniform blandness of a Holiday Inn, stay away from Pimblett's. However if you welcome eccentricity, chatting with and learning from the genial innkeeper, Geoffrey, give it a try. Everything works & our room (The "Library") was reasonably clean albeit crowded. The breakfasts are English-style (eggs, pancakes, sausage, toast, potatoes, etc. -- you won't leave for the day hungry). The location is perfect for exploring in and around Toronto -- streetcar a block away -- and there are several excellent restaurants close by. Limited parking is available at no cost, a bonus in downtown Toronto.

"Pimbletts charming teapots collection"

8.0

Spent three nights and four days at this east- end B&B. It was quiet, comfortable and in a convenient location within walking distance of downtown. Owner is a collector of antiques. Biggest collection of teapots.

"Dejligt b&b, men lidt sjov lugt"

6.0

Renligt, gode senge, hyggeligt og lækker morgenmad. Dog var der en sjov lugt i entréen og opgangen, som måske skyldtes at værten havde hund. Lugten trængte ikke ind på værelset, hvilket var rart.
