"Don’t think we will stay here again"

6.0

The great cottonwood tree fills the meadow in front with a majestic presence, it’s lovely. We also enjoyed the bird feeders around the patio area, & spent time spotting some new birds. The breakfasts were terrific, sourced locally & creatively prepared. Good coffee too. Our hosts were welcoming & a wealth of information about the Patagonia area & activities.

It’s in a poor state of repair & in need of a deep cleaning. We stayed in a hacienda (separate building) out back of the main house. The screen door had a huge hole that a dog had run through, which hadn’t been fixed. We think the inside had last been panted in the 1930s. Because of old pipes, water that flowed into the toilet was yellow & porcelain very stained. Windows so dirty you could barely see out. Now we live in the desert & know how quickly the sand & dust gets everywhere. We are not exactly fastidious! But for the price we paid for 2 nights, we would have liked cleaner surroundings.

"A unique place to stay."

Mary Jane and Tom were great hosts. They helped with planning our days out. Very quiet and calm location. Homely atmosphere was a great change from the chain hotels.

Quiet

Queen room very small, bathrooms could use updating, breakfast could be more substantial.

"Memorable (both positive and negative)"

7.0

Quiet, natural setting , hosts were friendly and accommodating

Old (could use some maintenance) and queen bedroom very small. Expected more special breakfast based on reviews and experience elsewhere.

"Birding Heaven"

8.0

This is a spectacular location for birding. The "Spirit Tree" itself and the whole Harshaw area is a wonderland. It was a treat from sunup to sundown. Excellent breakfasts before sunrise. Our hosts were a special treat.

The beds were comfortable, but the lodging was somewhat primitive. The main lodge had Wifi, but our rooms didn't, and no cell coverage. Easily drivable dirt road the last few miles into the property. We valued the remoteness and location, but if you don't, look elsewhere.

"Pleasant, relaxing stay all and all."

9.0

Food was good and the conversation around the table was enjoyable. It was commendable how they accommodated those with special dietary needs. The 200 plus year old cottonwood was marvelous.

Maybe a little better lighting around the fireplace. Really, hardly anything.

"Good"

3.0

Host was very kind.

Everything felt dingy and the room was so creaky with such thin walls that it felt very not-private and the locks were not strong or secure so it didn’t feel like a safe room to stay in.

"Even though this stay was costlier than others on my trip, I wish I stayed longer"

10.0

Mary Jane and Tom were wonderful hosts, very knowledgeable about the region and great to talk to. Tom's breakfast was exceptional! The settings of the Inn, the spirit tree, the antique furnishings and collections of books and curios, the evening visit by the javelina - all these combined to a memorable experience.

My overnight stay was too short - it was even too short to dislike anything.
