Weak shower, with dated shower curtain. Chaotic breakfast. Having to ask for plates, cups and warm food (both mornings)

Booked to celebrate my husband's birthday here with our dog to enjoy lovely walks, fabulous food and we certainly had a lovely time. Mews accommodation is quite basic, maybe I was lured in by the truly marvellous manor house in all the publicity....... quite small with a dog in tow too. The staff are lovely although staffing levels need improving. We had to ask for plates, cutlery at breakfast, to refill coffee machines and at dinner (although booked 6 weeks earlier) there was no space reserved for us in the bar for our meal with our dog. The Food though was truly excellent when it arrived. Every staff member we spoke to was polite, courteous and kind - the lady who ran the bar Fri and Sat couldn't do enough for us and Emileigh went above and beyond laying us a table in the bar and ensuring that my husband's 50th was remarked upon. A lovely young lady who couldn't do enough for her customers, she spoke to other guests with great aplomb - a credit to the hotel and the younger generation. It appears more glass dishwashers are required as the bar is constantly brimming with glasses, so much so that it is hard to see over - is the bar a tadge too small for the amount of guests perhaps? If improvements could be made New Place would be a 5 Star stay.

Good location

Really over busy. Had to eat off site one night because there were no opportunities over 90 minutes when I tried. Parking really difficult at times

The main building of the hotel is a fantastic old country house with lovely grounds. Most of the rooms are in more chalet style out buildings and the rooms are comfortable and adequate. The breakfast was just about warm each morning and they were clearly under staffed and under resourced. The breakfast had a number of options, from luke warm cooked breakfast buffet, cereals, pastries and fruit. Dinner was distinctly average but the staff at dinner were fantastic and the only real highlight. We were served by Stephanie on her second day and she was great and a real credit to the hotel. Desserts were the high point of the dinner as my partner’s main snd starter were both burnt. The weekend was completely spoilt by other guests at the hotel. There was a wedding on and some parents let their children run around shouting and banging on doors until after midnight which hugely disrupted us and other guests. It was a disappointing end and cemented that we would not return.

Breakfast!!!! What a complete rip off. Paid for the breakfast deal and really wish I hadn’t. So barring in mind these are all thing that should have been available and we went in at around 8.30am ….There was no eggs, no mushrooms no tomatoes, no bacon etc, A few cold hash browns rattling around in the bottom of a dish, No pastries of any kind, no bread for toast, No orange juice and the apple juice was just dregs in the bottom of the dispenser, as well as other things I probably missed. No cups for coffee or tea….ended up going back to the our room and taking the cups from there just so we could have a drink. Only thing that they did have was hot sausages and a lot of pissed off people. I would strongly recommend anyone staying to avoid paying for the breakfast as it’s an absolute joke and can’t believe that the hotel management feels it’s acceptable or has the gaul to charge for it. With that poor service I probably wouldn’t stay again.

Location was fantastic, very comfortable room.

Slow service in the bar area for drinks and food, also didnt clear tables quickly after guests left to make room for others.
