"Well, that was interesting! Never again!"

This place is cheap. If you're on your own, just need somewhere to rest on a long journey, then go ahead. That said, if you have family, then avoid this one. It's in the midst of the Dunkirk docks, which is a pretty unsavoury place to spend time. At the time we stayed, it also seemed to be functioning as a temporary police control room - with a conference room full of police officers and CCTV screens, plus a car park full of 20 police vans and minibuses. The four-bed rooms we'd booked were actually all double rooms, each having a door to a second double room. Each room was small and featured a simple double bed, TV and wardrobe, plus ensuite bathroom. The rooms themselves had seen better days - looking tired and not very clean. The bathrooms are desperate, with mould growing on the grout and leaking taps. In the interconnecting rooms, there were only temporary camp beds with mattresses. The bathrooms in the second rooms were locked, and a table had been stationed inside the passage that led to the unused doorway from the main corridor to the second rooms - bizarre! What proved the final straw though is that to block out the light, one had to roll down the external metal shutters! All of this lead to several bouts of black humour - suggesting bodies hidden in the locked bathrooms, shutters to keep out the zombie apocalypse etc. To give you some sense of the atmosphere, in the morning my daughter texted me to say 'We made it through the night!!’. Avoid!

"Good sleepover before/after ferry"

8.0

Comfortable bed (hard, which I prefer), two separate rooms (as one for 4 people). Free, very safe parking (half of the cars are police). Easy to find, excellent value.

"Meh..."

4.0

Very dated and shabby hotel with tiny rooms. Clean sheets and bathroom were all it had going for it besides the proximity to the ferry port. You get what you pay for and a family room for 65€ (approx £47) is a bargain.

On arrival the receptionist was fine we was sent to room number 9 entering the room it was basic but ok then went to the bathroom where it should of been condemned we had to back to our car to get our own towels because the ones in hotel were dirty grey colour supposed to be white the walls around the bath was just mould and you could smell the mould in there.one positive was the breakfast it was nice and there was plenty to eat. Only one staff to check in serve drinks and organise the canteen

"You get what you pay for!"

6.0

We booked a room for 4 of us. The room layout was very awkward and tight on space. The room decor dated and tired. The evening meal at the neighbouring was good value but breakfast was not. Our main issue with this hotel was the fact that we had requested a cot for our 17 month old - only to find out the hotel only has 1 and because that was already in use she was expected to share a double bed with her older brother! - this was not acceptable.

Room was a bit tired and the pillows are tiny, but as usual with the Kyriad it supplied all our needs with a pretty decent breakfast

We paid for the room but it wasn't as nice as we had read reviews on, five minutes later we had a call and had to get back to England as an emergency but couldn't get a refund so didn't actually stay in the room!
