Nice place in lovely location but simply impossible to use for business with no Wi-Fi or phone signal

Positive: - Excellent restored buildings and grounds in a beautiful setting - Relaxing outdoor areas along the river - Peaceful walks through the gardens and grounds - Spa treatment faciities very good - Food and service at the pub (accross the road) was very good Negative: - Size of the room very dissapointing for a "Superior" room! - Thick duvet on bed rather than a sheet/light blanket in the current heat wave! - Gap between mattress and headboard - pillow kept falling into gap making sleep uncomfortable! - Restaurent NOT open on weekends! Had to have meals accross the road at the pub! - No diet drinks at the pub - dispenser broken! - Credit card machine would NOT connect to the network - made 3 attempts on arrival the 2 attempts on departure - finally had to switch credit cards and another 2 attempts to connect before payment would go through! Other guests had the same problem! Can't run a business on this basis! - It all seemed a bit amateurish! - Has the potential to be so much more!

FALSE ADVERTISING: I selected the Old Swan Hotel specifically because the listing on Expedia stated that the property offered air conditioning—an essential amenity for my stay. Upon arrival and check-in, I immediately noticed that the room was uncomfortably warm. I searched for the air conditioning controls but could not locate any. I then approached the front desk to inquire, and the receptionist informed me that the hotel does not have air conditioning in any of its rooms. This directly contradicts the information provided the Expedia site at the time of booking. This discrepancy constitutes false advertising and significantly impacted the comfort and quality of my stay. I feel misled by the inaccurate listing and believe this situation reflects a bait-and-switch experience.

A disappointing stay overall. Here’s why: We had two room, one for me one for my mother. 1. There’s not enough staff, we had to wait for someone to assist us every time we went to reception. There was always a wait at the bar because there was only ever one person serving. 2. On the evening of check in, my mother was asked to change rooms the next day since a mistake was made in their system. 3. If you’re thinking of doing some work while there, forget it. The WiFi will not connect. I waited overnight until it finally work, the staff just shrug and say there’s nothing they can do. 4. The restaurant menu is disappointing. Fish and chips and burgers and pasta. Nothing special and not even reasonable prices. The staff are young and untrained, they leave cutlery on the table that you won’t use. 5. The gents toilet was dirty. The toilet was not cleaned whilst I was there. See photo. Toilet brush was filthy. 6. The garden furniture with old and rickety. A large garden umbrella blew over one afternoon and nearly hit a guest. 7. Room change late, came back from a day out at around 4.30 and room had not yet been made up. Overall, it feels like they are running the place on a limited budget and cutting corners. It’s not really a professionally run hotel, disappointing. Could be so much better.

Hotel and location lovely but no wifi and no phone signal so simply cannot revisit. Woman on reception/bar totally miserable...othet staff lovely

Location was great, quiet and scenic and with the sister Mill opposite which was available for Old Swan patrons to use was a good combination - despite being asked to use the 'Old Swan pub across the road' at certain times as the Mill facilities 'wasn't open'

Staff were overwhelmed with more than two customers at a time, weather that be at the bar or checking in/out and/or in the restaurant in the evening and at breakfast. Food service was slow, only seemed to be able to cater for an order at a time. Only one till and card machine in the bar which proved to be a bottle neck The team lacked front of house leadership, although the staff were trying to do their best, even though it wasn't particularly busy. Service charges applied to bar bill when ordering and collecting drinks from the bar which is not appropriate whether a resident or walk in customer - also Service charge applied to our breakfast bill, even though we were overnight guests paying a B&B rate..

Shocking service , no soft drinks on tap . When ordering a shandy offered the flat dregs from a supermarket 2 ltr bottle of lemonade. Lady behind the bar was unhelpful and bordering on rude , and didn’t have a real clue what she was doing . Landlady ? Fantastic location but sadly a lovely day out spoiled but a team that don’t put the service in service . Tried to order food at the table to be told order at the bar , yet the order for the table behind is taken. Shocking !! Avoid this place , plenty of better service pubs in the area .

Such a beautiful setting but aside from that not much was left to be desired. The room, although nice, not worth the in excess of £300 for one night. No phone signal and the wifi is extremely poor, not able to get connected until midnight on our arrival. The bar was very disappointing with most of the pumps not working. Breakfast was incredibly slow and the French toast was very poor, bacon burnt to a crisp. Upon arrival, we had to wait an age to get into our room whilst the staff fumbled through a drawer of keys only to find out someone had taken the key home for our room. Finally, I misplaced an item during our stay and have called multiple times and even emailed to ask if it has been found, but all my calls have gone unanswered, no one has called me back or replied to my email. I would suggest some very strong customer service training is required.

stayed at the weekend, 6 of the 9 beers were off including both casks, due to apparently a chiller failure? wifi wasnt working properly so took hours to get a connection, no 4/5G available on our phones here either so had no internet of any description, outside furniture is pretty tired and battered, not like on the stock photos, shame as outside area is pretty nice, evening meal was ok but portions rather small, breakfast took ages, toast was cold when it arrived, table next to us was complaining after a 45min wait, I had the french toast with bacon and maple syrup, in any normal place you get a small jug of syrup along side the meal, but not here, wouldnt have known a maple syrup bottle went anywhere near it and nothing extra supplied, rip off for £14. Didnt bother with breakfast the next day. Im sure they will say "You should have asked at the time", the point is that I shouldn't have to ask for toast to be hot and for meals with maple syrup to actually come with syrup.
