Ocean Bay Hotel & Resort

This is our family’s fourth time here at Ocean bay hotel and resort. As always we have had a wonderful time and I can honestly say it is the staff that make this holiday so special. They are hardworking, friendly and can not do enough for you. A shout out to the entertainment team who work tirelessly to ensure you have a good holiday. Especially Alimamy Koroma he is one of the kindest, hardworking and most talented peolpe you will ever meet. He always has a smile on his face and tries to ensure everyone is included and having a good time. He is truly an asset to the hotel.

This was our fourth Christmas visit to Ocean Bay in as many years. As usual the weather, the service, the food and the hospitality was as good as it has ever been. One note of caution is that there seems to be an internal power struggle with the Entertainment Team. One of the many reasons for coming back again and again is to meet the staff who have almost become friends. A young man, affectionately known as “B-Boy” is the epitome of what is so good at Ocean Bay. The way Alimamy Koroma has treated us has been outstanding, he is always ready to play pool, table tennis or just sit with us and talk. He always has a smile on his face and goes above and beyond to make sure we are enjoying ourselves. He is the reason we keep coming back.

Wow another amazing return trip again to Ocean Bay. All the staff are amazing and friendly and will go out there way for you what a credit to the hotel. We had our guide from last year Rhino and we did the monkey park and Georgetown overnight stay and wow what an experience My top tips would be please use the guides in the orange shirts located opposite the hotel for all your trips Please go B&B and support the local economy as this year we did notice the difference in the amount of All inclusive and it’s really cheap to eat and drink outside the hotel. Would highly recommend Calypso, Blue Monkey, Indian, Solomon’s and happy corner these where the places we ate at this year. Only downside to our holiday was the entertainment team wasn’t as good as last year it came across sometimes as it was a chore just to say hello and to do activities, THANK YOU Ocean bay and our guide Rhino for another amazing holiday see you soon love Claire @ Tony .

A for effort. Staff were generally very helpful. Rooms are very tired and fo need refurbishing urgently. Breakfasts were fairly good, variety would help. Omelette Station staff very excellant.

We stayed at Ocean Bay for Christmas 2025 booked with Tui on a B&B basis. Hotel is fantastic and very clean. We upgraded to a premium suite and the room was lovely, the bed was a king size, really comfortable. There was a separate sitting room with a sofa, a chair, wardrobes and a single bed for our son. Very spacious room. It was cleaned every day to a very high standard. The staff are an absaloute asset to the hotel, from all of the wait staff to the gardners the service they provide is outstanding. We took our 7yo and was worried there would be nothing for him to do, but the staff just adored him and he was so well looked after, from a random high five walking to our room to full blown, we didn't see him for half the day.. thank you to all of the staff (especially the bar staff, you're all amazing) The entertainment staff are brilliant and they try so so hard with the holiday makers, getting them involved in activities throughout the day and also doing some of the entertainment on an evening too, they are a really good team and seem to work so well together, again nothing is too much trouble for them and they made our stay even more special. Thank you so much for all your hard work. Hotel food is lovely weekend ate here a couple of times and were never disappointed. The buffet on an evening is roughly £20pp if your not AI. What we didnt realise is we had a xmas eve gala included in our stay (if you booked with TUI) it was at the sister hotel Sun Beach and it was spectacular 10/10. If you had to pay it was £35pp and £17.50 for a child. It made our xmas that little bit extra special. The hotel is right on the beach and the beach is gorgeous, there is a guy there selling coconuts for £2 and they were delicious. There is also a beach bar, free sunbeds and towels, yes we did get hassled of the juice guys and the fruit ladies but a no thanks (5 or 6 times haha) and they didnt bother us again. All in all it was an amazing xmas in Gambia. We highly reccomend this hotel. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so special.

Second time in Ocean Bay Hotel & love it. A bit expensive compared to outside eating/ drinking places. And the evening menu could do with more choices of food available. BUT the entire Hotel & grounds are immaculate. The beach is clean and right next to the hotel. The staff are friendly and always polite. Amoundou the pool guy is a treasure always up for a chat especially his love of Newcastle United. And my husbands rival Manchester United team 😀 Entertainment every night. We always book B&B. as it’s far cheaper to eat out.

What a beautiful place to stay! The staff were all very friendly and helpful and saved the day when the our tour failed to pick us up for a trip, arranging a taxi to whizz us to the port so that we were able to catch the rest of the group. They bar staff even became Leeds United supporters when we watched the games which added to the atmosphere. They were also super helpful in arranging a late check-out which gave us almost another full day's holiday! I am genuinely shocked by some of the reviews I have read. We have travelled extensively all over the world and we are very picky but it would be hard to find fault with this hotel. Maybe some people just like to moan! This is Africa! There are flies! Bring inset repellent and get over yourself! Having said that, the rooms were sprayed daily and had a mosquito screen on the balcony doors. We would probably request a room further away from the pool area next time as this is where the entertainment happens and it could be quite loud. It didn't go on too late so it wasn't really that intrusive. There is a fantastic Spa on site which is terrific value with friendly professional staff. The hotel is a short stroll from shops and great restaurants. True, you have to cope with all the local tour guides who want to show you their country or direct you to their sister's shop but they are just trying to make a living and are really happy to welcome tourists. They can be persistent but are genuine, friendly and not at all intimidating.
