Ocean Bay Hotel & Resort

We stayed at Ocean Bay for 10 nights in November this was our second stay there Everything was as good this time as it was in January All the same staff who all remembered us 😊 all staff are wonderful and work really hard We were in room 402 this time , rooms are a great size, beds huge, fridge and air con included, air con was definitely needed as it was very humid while we were there A special mention to the amazing Animation team, they never stop from morning till night The Aquarobics are really good fun , pool is huge and was really warm too No problem getting a sun lounger, lots around the pool, even more down on the beach The hotel is spotlessly clean and the gardens are beautiful The beach bar is really nice, lovely to sit and chill with a drink or two We were bed and breakfast, again breakfast was excellent, lots of choice, something for everyone, both hot and cold options available, lovely fresh bread, cakes, fruit and waffles We did sometimes eat there at lunchtime, a good choice and reasonable prices Buddha restaurant at the hotel is very nice, food a nit different from the traditional dishes Whilst the hotel is in a quiet area there are places to eat outside the hotel Gibbis on the beach is very good and they do provide pick up/ drop off from hotels in the area Mr Bass is very reasonable and food very nice, there is also an Indian restaurant nearby and New one for the road which is a bit further away but walkable Calypso next door to the hotel is a great place to chill I understand that there are a couple more restaurants that are new too Solemelos is really nice, with live music twice a week but you do need a taxi as it is a bit further away We will definitely return to Ocean Bay

We had another great holiday. My thanks go out to everyone who works at the hotel from the general manager to the gardeners and all the other staff especially Anna who did our room so perfect. The chefs who went up and above to make our stay so great.

Just returned from another holiday at Ocean Bay resort Gambia. We are fortunate to be able to travel to The Gambia several times a season. For people thinking of booking this holiday, The staff are amazing, always caring, polite, respectful. The area is very staff day and night. There are some local bars and restaurants in the area that are great. The strip is a short drive away but easy and safe to access. There have been some changes to the animation team this season, most changes are welcome. The animation team led by Alimamy appeared to have a renewed enthusiasm, and the confidence the animation team appeared to be growing which I found lovely to see. I hope that the hotel are aware and respects the skills and talents that the following animation team have. Alimamy, Yassin, Aminata, Mohamed, KBoy,Musa. Always polite, respectful and keen to help all guests. There are some additional games during the day and ( although not a keen bingo player) pleased to see that bingo is no longer evening entertainment. Animation team listened to guests and provided bingo on requests. Well done for initiative and being able to “read the room” to guests requests. ( can’t be easy to please all but well done). Pool area. Always a sun lounger available, always responsive to requests. Disappointed that Lamin wasn’t working at the hotel anymore as he was an asset. Pleased with the new pool man Omar polite, respectful and fun. Sorry I have to add some negatives to this recent experience but all could be enhanced. Evening entertainment finishes at the new time of 22.00 regardless of the fun all guests still out were having. On two occasions the evening entertainment was paid for by guests having had permission to extend it an hour was abruptly stopped by the new entertainment manager with no explanation, consideration or explanation. I have always enjoyed the dance shows provided by the Animation team, sadly on this occasion I didn’t like the new song choices or the new dance routines preformed. ( I didn’t choose Gambia to see strip show to European music). I don’t think the new routes allowed for the skills and talents that the Animation team have). I wasn’t keen on being told that new games are going to be introduced ( do it or stop saying it, use what you have not what you want). Management Sort out the floor around the pool area before someone goes through it. Reconsider extending the evening entertainment times of shows in the evening, or at least “read the room” to what guests are requesting. Definitely a fantastic hotel and previously fully enjoyed. I have been visiting Ocean Bay Hotel for the past three years, twice each season, and it has truly become a home-from-home. The level of service and atmosphere is what keeps me returning to this particular hotel. The staff are exceptional, always attentive and genuinely happy in their work. Their warmth creates a welcoming environment from the moment you arrive. A special shoutout to Bakery, who kept us wonderfully hydrated! 😊 The food continues to impress; the buffet is delicious with plenty of variety, and I highly recommend ordering from the lunch menu around the pool. Our room was always clean, spacious, and well looked after, which makes a huge difference during longer stays. The only small downside is that although we had a room for three people with a third bed, we still had to request a third set of essentials like cups and chairs. The entertainment team remain a real highlight and have really upped their game this season. Alimamy, Mohamed, Ousman, Musa, Yassin and Aminata are engaging, friendly, and always happy to join in games or activities at guests’ request — great fun and a big part of the daytime appeal here. Evening entertainment is mixed. Delphina is absolutely excellent, and I’m looking forward to seeing the band at New Year. The new 5 Star show, however, felt rather tedious. It’s also a shame that the entertainment ends at 10pm, especially when it’s clear that many guests are still enjoying the evening. It feels as though the voices of those who complain outweigh those who don’t. Additionally, the animation team’s dance performance was disappointing compared to previous seasons. It seemed to have lost some of its usual energy and African flare, and the routines didn’t fully showcase the team’s skills and talents, which was a shame. There have been some welcome changes this season, including more daytime activities, which add even more opportunities for guests to get involved and enjoy their stay. However, with these updates, it feels important that the hotel doesn’t move too far away from the authentic charm and energy that have always made it special. Overall, these small things don’t take away from the stay as a whole. Ocean Bay remains a wonderful place to visit, and I will absolutely continue returning.

My stay at the Ocean Bay Hotel was excellent – genuinely a holiday of a lifetime. The standout feature was the entertainment throughout the hotel, delivered by a fantastic team led superbly by Alimamy (affectionately known as B-Boy). His team—Ousman (K-Boy), Musa, Mohamed, Yassin, and Princess—went above and beyond to ensure every guest, including me, had an enjoyable and lively stay, even giving in to guest requests at times and finding room in their schedule for extra games of bingo. All staff across the hotel were helpful, friendly, and courteous, from the waiting staff to the pool attendants and housekeeping. I unfortunately ended up needing their support after my mobility scooter toppled and I fell. I wasn’t on the ground long before Mohamed from the entertainments team rushed over, followed by KK from housekeeping, and later K-Boy. They handled the situation with genuine care, dignity, and efficiency, apologising repeatedly despite it not being their fault. The reality is that the hotel’s layout isn’t fully adapted for guests with limited mobility, but it does make an effort, and it’s a solid start. With continued feedback from guests, I’m sure the improvements will keep coming. Thank you to all the staff for making my stay truly memorable.

Clean Looks nice. I love the entertainment , people were very nice and attentive

Bed was really hard , my door has holes at the bottom ,my door lock did not work for 2 days

The staff are always super friendly, and the buffets are very good. The rooms are big, and the location is right next to the beach.

It's quite expensive for what you get, and for where it is.
