Best Western Visalia Hotel

Good location. Little further out but there was traffic noise

Didn’t like anything….Dirty elevators , blankets wrinkled and smelly looked like they never changed them.

Buckle up its story time! 3/3-3/4/2026 My partner and I travel frequently and often stay at Best westerns. We are platinum members and usually the staff is nice and accommodating and the hotels are clean. On this occasion we arrived late in the evening and we usually ask if there is a room that overlooks the parking lot, so we can keep an eye on our van. The front desk attendant in the evening - Ashley was so sweet and welcoming. They accommodated our request and also gave us an upgrade which was awesome since we would be there for about a week. In the morning we woke up early for work and went out to the parking lot to move our van closer to the view of the room. When we came back inside - we walked towards breakfast (it was about 7am) and a white woman approached us and rudely asked “what room are you in?!” To which we replied “what room are YOU in?” She then revealed she was the general manager. She had no identifying markers like a name tag or politeness. She also did not ask anyone else in the room if they were staying with the hotel. I’m not one to just be telling strangers my hotel room number.. The way she spoke to us leads me to believe she’s racist and singled out the only brown people in the room. She was not apologetic, she didn’t seem to care that she was being disrespectful. She later said she asked out of fear for her and her staffs safety affirming that racist perspective. With the current political climate in this country I urge people - especially in leadership roles to consider how they are treating black and brown folks. When I asked her what her name was she very arrogantly began to spell it out L- O-N-I. Clearly this person regularly treats people disrespectfully and goes unchecked. After that incident I called corporate to make a formal complaint about that interaction since it left us feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. I just had a bad feeling that she would retaliate in some way, so I wanted to report the incident to have a paper trail. The next day the front desk calls and states that they need to service the room and clean. We politely declined and let them know we are working all day and can’t have someone in the room. Loni calls our room after that and insists that the room has to be cleaned as per hotel policy. Again, we state that we prefer privacy since we’re working. She then says that we need to vacate the room since we are refusing housekeeping and says to get out by 11 or she’s calling the cops. WHAT?! Best western, are yall kicking people out for refusing housekeeping? Because no other hotel that I have ever stayed at has treated me this way. Not ever. What’s the sign on the door requesting privacy for if not to signify that we want privacy. My partner went to the lobby to try to understand and reason with Loni face to face to which she replied with a stubborn dedication to kicking us out. She began to fabricate complaints about us and said that the refusal for housekeeping was the last straw. Girl, what? I know Best Westerns are independently owned and operated, but there has to be some accountability for this person. It’s such a shame because all the other employees were so kind. Amanda, Ashley, and Rochelle were all so friendly and welcoming. It makes me sad to know that they have to endure work every day with such a sadistic, miserable person who should not be in a leadership role. I want travelers to know that the Visalia Best western is not a welcoming hotel as long as that “general manager” is leading the team.. Hey Loni, maybe instead of discriminating against paying guests you should focus on minimizing your ego and actually providing hospitality.. the breakfast was as miserable as the employees looked in your presence and the place smells as disgusting as your attitude. Best Western, do better.

Great location and helpful staff

Front desk very welcoming after a long drive. Loni was just wonderful offering burgers and beer on Wednesday evening. She even made cookies! Housekeepers were so sweet and helped with whatever we needed and rooms very clean.
