Art-Hotel Rachmaninov

Nous avons surtout apprécié cet hôtel pour son emplacement très proche de l'avenue principale, le calme de notre chambre (donnant sur une cour intérieure) l'amabilité du personnel, présent en permanence, et la décoration assez originale. Cela dit, cet hôtel ne conviendra pas à ceux qui ont besoin de luxe: il n'y a pas d'ascenseur et il faut toujours passer par la réception au deuxième étage, notre chambre "confort" était assez petite et le lit d'appoint fourni pour notre enfant, réparé sommairement, était inconfortable.

The hotel is in the center very close to restaurant and coffee shops. Great staff, they speak English but the the hotel was in the third floor, no elevator. I had to walk upstairs with my luggage and it wasn’t easy.

I love cute, interesting hotels that aren't the standard antiseptic standard hotel rooms you see in every city. I loved the decor of the hotel and my room. The location is near many sites, mostly a walking distance of 10-15 minutes. My room was small and clean, but suited my needs fine. There is no air conditioning and as I was there during a heat wave, it got a little uncomfortable at night with just an open window. The hotel staff is very nice and spoke excellent English. There are a lot of stairs up to the hotel lobby and then there is a spiral staircase down to my room which can be hard to navigate with luggage. There was confusion over a taxi to the train station in which the hotel charged me (I have the receipt) and then the driver charged me again. I would have appreciate it if a hotel staff had helped me sort out the payment when the taxi arrived. Otherwise, I had a nice stay. The breakfast has a small, tasty selection of foods.

The hotel location was excellent. The service was also amazing, the ladies at the reception will go out of their way to help book tours, get taxis, and give you directions to places. They all spoke very good English. The hotel is in an old building in the third floor by stairs. Knowing that, I did not expect fitness rooms or super modern showers with tons of water ... The hotel was fairly quiet although yuan hear the noise from the street. I rather spend time in this hotel than in any chain hotel that would look the same in Chicago. Buenos Aires, or St. Petersburg. The experience was great!! The hotel also has exhibitions of paintings pictures ... very interesting. Would definitely go back!

The location is perfect, the hotel it self is comfortable and gives a feeling of a family. The name "Rahmaninof" is well chosen, the feeling of art, music and history is all over around you. I will defenitly come back to this place

Fantastiskt hotell och trevlig personal . Vi fick hjälp med allt vi frågade efter. Enda nackdelen var att de inte hade en barnstol

Es war alles sehr einfach, aber auch sehr liebevoll gemacht. Sehr hilfsbereites Personal. Leider war das Hotel sehr schlecht belüftet. Da wir 30 Grad hatten war es unerträglich heiss im Zimmer. Keine Klimaanlage. Aber extrem gute Lage. Ich würde es wieder buchen.

This is a review of Pluses and Minuses... Plus: An historic hotel historically linked with Rachmaninov, the celebrated composer. The Place oozes history related to the great man and it has an understated old fashioned charm. The owners are resolutely attempting to retain the place as close to as it was when Rachmaninov lived there. As a consequence there are some Minuses - see further on. Plus: Fantastic position not far from the iconic Nevsky Prospect street. Plus: Fantastic staff - absolutely charming and helpful front of desk ladies. Couldn’t fault their professionalism. Plus: comfortable spacious room, though the mattress needed replacing - lumpy! Plus: pretty good breakfast. Sounds great so far... Minuses: If you have a problem with stairs, this place is not for you. It’s up 3 flights lugging suitcases - no lift and no help. Heating seems to be on permanently. It was pleasantly warm when we were in St P and there was no need for heating. Our bedroom faced the street. No a/c or fan - we needed something as we couldn’t have the window open because the road beneath was very noisy with traffic. The St Petersburgians have a penchant for noisy cars at speed. Also, smokers gathered below, so cig fumes could come into the room. Everyone smokes there and to Australians it is unpleasant. Would I stay there again? Yes...if there was a fan or a/c. I dread to think what it must be like in summer. A pity as it is in such a fabulous position.

The Rachmaninov hotel is so called because the famous composer lived in the building at one time. It is very conveniently located for all the central attractions that St. Petersburg has to offer. The hotel is very atmospheric and full of interesting antiques. The breakfast is included in the price and is of a good standard. This is our second visit and I would not hesitate to stay again if I visit the city once more.
