Wonder View Inn - Bar Harbor Collection

The hotel property was nice - the Bluenose Inn area. Our room was dated and needed to be freshened up for the cost of the room. The staff at the Looking Glass dining was not very friendly. Food was fine, just not welcoming.

This is an old property. Upon opening the door to the foyer where our room was located, there was a strong moldy smell. Thankfully, it did not extend to the room itself. The building was very unattractive. There is no place in the bathroom to put your toiletries except for a narrow shelf-my toothbrush was knocked off-not much room there. The sink is a single on a stand. You have to hike or drive a very skinny road to get to the office where they have coffee and tea. There is a Keurig, but the coffee provided wasn’t good and we needed cream for the coffee and tea. The AC was a high unit directed by a remote without instructions, but we thought it might have heat also-it did not. The heat comes from a small electric fireplace. It did a good job, but actually a little too good as I had to awaken at midnight to turn down the heat. The bed headboard banged the wall when turning over. I’ve never paid so much for so little. We chose to do so for the location but it wasn’t as close to town as we expected and we still had to drive in and pay for parking. There was no view from our room or anywhere we saw on the property, perhaps from the restaurant? It was clean though and relatively quiet and we were able to sleep well.

Loved our room at Wonder View Inn. Great end room and balcony. View of ocean was awesome. Enjoyed our stay. Room was clean.

The room was spacious with a balcony with a wonderful view. Very comfortable.

Reception staff (at the nearby HOTEL) was very pleasant and helpful by pointing out the shuttle bus to the Village Green

Room was pictured with a great view of the harbor. Not the case. Room was slanted (not level) as construction was probably from the 40s. Back door to the small deck was stuck with a large gap at the bottom that allowed the breeze in. Looks like a no-tell-motel. Shower fixtures are at the height for a 4yo and either scorching hot or freezing cold.

Wonderview as a name is a misnomer. This is a good old fashioned motel from the 50's that is in decent condition. The view from the balcony is of overgrown trees. To be fair, nothing stands out as bad but there is nothing to get excited about either. We stayed two nights and had no problems but if you are in any way having difficulty walking on unlevel terrain this is not the place for you. Advice we would have liked to have is this property has been taken over by the adjoining "Bluenose" hotel and everything is ran from there so avoid the meandering long and winding drive through the Wonderview property and just drive up the short driveway to the Bluenose to check in. Just don't draw any conclusions about the Wonderview until you actually get there.
